SAMSUNG led@120 or SAMSUNG lcd@240?

Thread Starter
i'm torn between these two tv's. for about 2500 i can get the 52" lcd 240hz or for another 700 i can get the basic 55"led 120hz. would you rather have the 240hz or the led @120?

The LED. Better blacks and I am not a fan of the motion control for most viewing. The LED is also razor thin.

I was all set to buy the LED backlit lcd.
My research led me to the b750.
To each his own, but I stood and looked at both of them for an hour after spending many hours here, and went home with the 750.

Ditto. My 46" 750 arrives tomorrow. Every LED screen I saw, in different stores, had a magenta cast to the entire picture. The 750, even with a Vibrant set-up for showrooms, was much more neutral. This was readily apparent in black and white images.

There is no advantage to 240Hz. There is no wire that can carry it and there is no format to support it. Also many of the 240Hz TVs aren't even truly 240Hz. Sony just changed their logarithm to make it 240Hz

You don't need a special "format" to use its advantages - you can feed it with all normal sources like 60 Hz. In fact most sets don't support 120 or more Hz input.

You churn out sig-worthy material in every line...

Sony? All were talking about Samsung!?
And what is a "logarithm"?

Care to explain who did what to the algorithm in detail?

As for the choice: I wouldn't buy either one.

Depending on the environment (room brightness and seating positions) I would either choose a good plasma or an LCD with local dimming backlight.

I also did not think the whites were perfectly white on the 7000 compared to the 750b right next to it.
Maybe it was the way the set was adjusted, but I have read similar results.
I did see the flash light issues with the 7000.

The truth is, either set at home will probably make you happy. I just thought the pic on the b750 was better.

What's to explain? I saw a magenta hue overall. You may not notice it if A.) you're not sensitve to neutral colors, and especially B.) if you don't have anything nearby to compare it to.

If you want to try to see it, I suggest watching something in black and white, while looking at a black and white photo in a book or newspaper. The TV leans towards making the whites pink.

Same with me..I ended up at the b750 too I agree though everyone should make their own mind up after researching.

Researching here, other forums/review sites, checking them out in store, the B750 is virtually identical in picture quality to the B6/7000. I wasn't able to check flashlighting/clouding issues, but if anything, that favors the B750 as having less issues. If you want the LED, it's going to be because of the form factor.

My local BB darkens the area of the store where the TV's are and I was able to compare a B650 and a B6000, I thought the B650 colors looked better and the blacks were pretty much the same.

dude do some research before u spout off crap the reason sony/samsung are true 240hz is because there are 2 chips instead of 1, 120x2=240hz to process, lg and toshiba uses 1 chip= 120hz and backlight scanning = 240hz... lg has 480hz coming in fall true 240hz w/backlight scanning = 480hz
logarithm lol

Now that 240Hz has become the latest and greatest spec of the moment, I believe the new 52-inch Samsung LN52B750 within this year Samsung Series 7 has all the characteristics to become the best-selling HDTV for 2009.

The new B750 Series HDTVs can deliver darker blacks with better shadow detail than their UNB7000 edge-lit LED counterparts. Similarly, they deliver better screen uniformity and support the same level of color accuracy as LED TVs.
