I have a sumsung dlp model HLN567wx/xaa.
Here is my problem.
I bought the tv new about 3.5 years ago
When i turn on the tv in the morning it starts up pretty normal. After about an hour or more it starts flickering and the screen kinda turns whiteish and the picture is all outa whack. if i turn it off and let it cool it will start up again and play normal for a lil while then starts messin up again. i suppose i could include a small video clip if needed. if ya need one to help me let me know
I dont THINK its the bulb as i have taken the cover off when this starts happening and it doesnt appear to be flickering. could it be a problem with the color wheel?
Any help or info would be greatly appreciated
Thanks
Baron

A video would definitely help, if you can easily post one?

Thanks for the videos.

I'm not 100% sure about this problem, but since it happens after some amount of time I'm going to wager it's a bad DMD board that, after heating up a bit, is causing your problem.

Things I can almost be sure it's NOT are: lamp, color wheel, ballast problems. Typically if you can rule those out, your culprit is the DMD board ...

If that's your problem, you may be able to buy a part for approx. $150 and install it yourself (if you have that kind of know-how/courage). Otherwise it's probably a $3-400 fix. Again, this is assuming it's the DMD board. It'd be good to get some other opinions though!

arghh!. well at least the vids posted and i got a quick responce honestly the tv has just been sitting in my room (unused) for almost a year now. i purchased a smaller 36 widescreen flat lcd for the living room cause i came across a good deal.
thought id finnaly look into it as my daughter is coming down to visit and i was gonna put it in her room. id like to have it back in my living room..lol
If any one else has an idea let me know please i can take more vids if needed of the picture or inside of the tv.

If overheating is the cause of the problem before changing any parts I think you should make sure that all of the air vents on the unit are clear of dust by vaccuming them from the outside and then make sure that the unit has adequate ventilation when running.

thanks
Yea i cleaned it pretty well when i took the cover off to check the bulb. It always had good ventalation though and the fan appears to run as normal.
It was a bit dusty. I would like to get to the dmd board to dust that as well. Also too give a look at it.
So if anyone can point me towards a good tutorial for that on my model tv.
THAT WOULD BE GREAT
thanks

Replacing the DMD on that model could be a little tricky ; the board must be mounted correctly or else the picture can be off kilter (tilted) or parts may be off the viewable area. This is not as easy as replacing the color wheel. I do think it is probably the DMD, but honestly you should just pay someone to look at it. Most places will charge you $50-$100 for an estimate and if you really want to do it yourself you can take the part # given, buy it and try to replace it yourself.
