Hello all and thank you for your help

I am currently a optimum cable subscriber and have 3 dvr in each room i am looking to save money with a stand alone unit . does anyone have any advice

i see moxi has a unit for 799 which is alot if there are other ways to archive what i want. I also see there is a moxi mate which will allow me to send recording to a second tv .

can some one please give me a alternative to renting 3 dvr and paying for the service thanks

I will continue to search the site to see if i can find a solution as i wait for a response thanks

Generally speaking, one doesn't buy their own cable DVR to save money. They buy their own cable DVR because they want improved functionality, capacity, reliability, and/or usability.

The "Moxi Mate" isn't available yet. Moxi has not announced the details, but it is expected to cost around $100 and ship by the end of the summer. It will support the same streaming media features as the Moxi, including pictures, music, and certain videos using the PlayOn software (Netflix SD, Hulu SD, etc) for Windows. It will play completed recordings on the Moxi, but it is not expected to support liveTV.

Since you want recorded playback on three TVs, you may eventually save money with Moxi, depending on the final price of the Moxi Mate.

ok ya i just got a ooma which is for the voip so i was able to save 50 bucks a month from my cable company phone service by canceling the voip service .

the dvr are only really being used in 2 rooms the kids dont use there's often . I know in the long run i will make up the 800 price tag . really could just do with one dvr if i can send programs to a second tv . so i was thinking of the moxi but am unsure of the multimedia card i need to get from my cable company and the support .

thanks for your response and help are htere any other stand alone dvr out there you can recomend ?

If you consider how long the Moxi might last you in my opinion should rent it. I have had many Moxi's(4) and Mates (2)...over the last 4 years.
