New PIONEER SC-LX72 and SC-LX82

Coming September

New SC-LX72 and SC-LX82 amps from Pioneer.
This years models owners, don't need to be upset, as the biggest update seems to be the front HDMI/ipod input (Five HDMI in total for 82), new menus and the Multichannel PQLS on HDMI.

Oh.. and a new microphone..

It appears that DPL2z will not be a feature...

It seems that only the flagship SC-LX90 will be left untouched with maybe only a firmware update..

Here is another photo of the front HDMI input...

These are replacements for the SC-05 and SC-07 right?

If so, look at the power ratings on the SCLX82: 7x190W 20Hz-20kHz @ 0.09%, 8ohms!

The only thing I'm interested in is if they got rid of the POS Faroudja scaler.

I bet the names will be SC-06 and SC-08 or SC-05MarkII and SC-07MarkII !!

Ooomph - is this replacing the SC-09 or something? I have a hard time believing those numbers.
Yeah, they may be quoting at 6ohms and it's a typo.. most of the European specs are at 6ohms..

190W is the same as the SC-LX81 (SC-07) at 6 ohms
http://www.pioneer.co.uk/uk/products...X81/specs.html

SC-LX81:
Output Power per Channel 190W
Impedance at Output Level
Number of Channels 7
Signal / Noise Ratio 92 dB / 65 dB

which would indicate no change in the SC-LX82 from the SC-LX81 in power

Yeah I just looked at the UK website too and noticed that.

Time for drooling is over.

So far I've seen no reference to Dolby ProLogic IIz or other height channel scheme. Also, other than some IPod enhancement, a front HDMI input (nice!), the only biggie is the multichannel PQLS.

I think we SC-09/LX90 owners will still be king for another yr

Actually, in conversation I had with Chris Walker (BD marketing manager at Pioneer US) he confirmed that the SC-09 is not being replaced this yr and will still be the flagship.

I think its' very interesting if Pioneer does ignore DPLIIz & DTS' height/width format this yr. Either they didn't have time to incorporate it in the design, didn't think it added much, or for financial reasons decided not to use it.

+1
I can live with that!

DPLIIz & DTS' height/width format would be fun to play with though.

Hmmm... I wonder if I should jump on the SC-05 now or wait for these new models to come out. If anyone knows, how much impact will the PQLS have for blu ray playback?

Multichannel PQLS could minimally benefit multichannel LPCM but not Dolby TrueHD, DTS-HD Master Audio, Dolby Digital, etc.

If you are a looking for a good deal, get the SC-07. While it lacks multichannel PQLS, it has a multichannel sample rate convertor that upsamples all audio data directly upstream of the DAC and eliminates nearly all jitter.

check these site's for more info and pictures:

pioneer.eu/eur/products/42/98/405/SC-LX72/index.html

and

pioneer.eu/eur/products/42/98/405/SC-LX82/index.html

or in dutch:

pioneer.nl/nl/products/42/98/405/SC-LX72/index.html

and

pioneer.nl/nl/products/42/98/405/SC-LX82/index.html

interesting because these links are not yet to be found on the pioneer website itself. They only list the old 71 and 81.

for some reason I could not paste the complete links in the reply, add www to them and you'll be able to find the info... sorry for the inconvenience.
