Oddly, if the plot synopsis posted above is correct, it could be a perfect fit for 3D.

How about a little FAITH around here?
Josh Z infamously said Avatar would be the biggest failure in history.
And see where THAT got him.

As Cameron proved, whether or not 3D works is entirely dependent upon the director, and to some extent subject matter.

I hope Scott pulls it off....if he doesn't, he won't be the first guy to fail trying.

There was a time when few of us would have doubts.

I root for the film, but never cared for 3d, don't hate it, just not excited about it. To me the content is far more important then how it looks, and that includes all the silly camera works and color grading, that directors thinks adds to the story.

+1

IMO, 3D is just another tool a filmmaker can use (like CGI or stunt doubles or whatever) to tell a story.
Nothing more really.

What we have learned in the post-Avatar era is 3D will not make a crappy movie a good movie.
And a tool is only as good as the person wielding it.

If you look at the all time box office leaders in top 20 which happens to be avatar & titanic #1 & #2. It's the only 2 movies on that list that IMO sucks so bad. I just think it's odd that most of the films in the top 20 range from good to great to awesome but none that are as dumb as avatar & titanic...again YMMV. I know I'll get flamed but it's just my honest opinion.

And everyone is entitled to one.

The Top 20 List ONLY relates B.O. returns, not cinematic quality.

Absolutely pointless. Just mere stats and records. Roger Federer has won the most grand slams in the histsory of tennis and is ranked #1 the longest time and has held every tennis record know to the sport but why does he have a huge losing recored to Rafal nadal, Andy murray, and Novak jokavic? my point is stats doesn't reveal how good or enjoyable a film in relative to other films and that the best film is subjective. Do don't give this crap that just because it won the most oscars or raked in the most box office it's the best movie of all time .

At the time titanic came out it was the most biggest film ever made with the biggest budget, crew, F/X, stunts, props, on and on which in return like a natural ripple effect creates on the biggest ooh's and ahh's, buzz, hype that brought the masses like sheep to the movie theaters.

The hype and buzz it created lasted for quite a bit that of course came time for awards season also garnished all those nominations and wins. The film created tons of jobs and income for hollywood machine. If didn't win then the whole world will not view hollywood's film industry as nothing short of the best.

It was just a pat on the back amongs the big boys club to each other. It's kinda like the NBA pronouncing the dallas mavericks as world champions.

Note: at one point in Federer's prime at #1 he had a 1-7 record against Nadal and 0-4 vs Nabadian. Think about that 1-7, The greatest of all time? not to me he isn't.

Perhaps you can share with us your list of top 10 or 5 movies of all time.

There really is no way to do that makes much sense.

The population of the U.S. has increased by more than 50% during my living memory.
And with it, the theater-going public.

Back in yonder days, there wasn't things like video games, 400 TV channels, etc. to compete with "going to the movies."

The only thing we can say with highest grossing B.O. List is it measure the highest grossing B.O.....and that's all.

Well, this synopsis is word for word on IMDB now.
I panned your link as BS weeks ago. Is this real?

Ready to eat my words if it is.

Buried in the discussions at imdb is news of a Ridley interview in or close to Iceland on his way to film 'The Beginning Of Time' with a partial crew and cast. Earth Bound 'Dig' footage or Alien Planet footage? Iceland looks alien out in the wilds, so who knows. Interesting

Gladly...

Leon
Magnolia
Pulp Fiction
Braveheart
Gladiator
Watchmen
Scarface
True Romance
Texas chainsaw massacre
Jaws
Back to the future
Superman

There's more but those are just on top of my head.

You know, exactly! All of the past #1's like Borg, Mcenroe, becker, edberg, sampras, agassi, ..I like them all but something about Federer that just irks me. And the current crop like nadal and njokovic I have no problems with them either.

Which version, 1932 or 1983? Both are good by the way.

How could there be more than 10 of top 10 or 5 of top 5?

Leon with natalie portman/jean reno. It's just director's cut of the professional with the classic hilarious restaurant scene that shows she's a force to be reckon with well beyond her 12 yrs.

Scarface with Pacino of course.

I wasn't really counting.

Btw I like to add that those films to me deserve to be on the list because of enjoyable replay value, innovative/groundbreaking, and how it endures over time. Leon & Pulp fiction I must have seen at least 10x. Superman & Back to the future I saw 3x in the theather in the same day. And a mark of really good film is how it endures over time like 25 yrs+. Star wars for instance does not hold up so good seeing it today vs 1977 on opening day. And then there are some really great titles but you can only watch one time, i.e Godfather Pt 2, Exorcist

For those interested, the head writer for Prometheus (also the head writer for LOST and the more recent Star Trek and upcoming Cowboys & Aliens film) gave an awesome interview where he talked about all sorts of things, including this film.

http://www.slashfilm.com/watch-kevin...amon-lindelof/

[23:00] Intro of Lindelof
[26:00] Lost, including criticism of finale (and talk about other show finales), and “feud” with George RR Martin
[50:00] Inspirations, including (George Lucas & Stephen King)
[59:00] Early writing and time at NYU
[1:07:00] Early life in Hollywood
[1:15:00] More on Stephen King and King film/TV adaptations
[1:26:00] Admits likes Star Wars more than Star Trek (in series of This v That questions)
[1:27:00] Genesis Lost and his starting his JJ Abrams collaboration, and becoming showrunner, and even more Lost
[2:10:00] Cowboys & Aliens and working with Jon Favreu, and collaborating with Orci, Kurtzman and other writers (on C&A)
[2:18:00] Prometheus (and working with Ridley Scott) and its connection to Alien franchise
[2:24:00] How the writer’s strike allowed him to produce Star Trek while also working on Lost
[2:25:00] More on Ridley Scott and Prometheus [fun fact: took 2 weeks to write first draft of script]
[2:34:00] Talks briefly about newly announced 1952 project with Disney, clarifies he won’t be working on it until after the Star Trek sequel
[2:38:00] Wrapping up and outro
[2:43:00] Damon plays Larry King Game (doing bad Larry King impression)

My wife works at actors equity and apparently an actor who was in an off broadway show was just pulled out by some talent scout to "go make the ALIEN prequel" just last week. They flew the actor over to the UK.
I don't know if that's for Prometheus or what but that's how they were saying what happened.
