Dave, that's gotta be Prometheus, and film locations include Scotland.

Got it. Interesting that around the theater production here they are all saying he "left to do the ALIEN prequel"
Not just a Ridley Scott sci fi film.

Logan Marshall Green

Excellent video!
Very informative.

Thank you, sir.

As much as I'm not a huge Lindelof fan, I totally agree with his opinion of what a "prequel" should be like to any film. This gives me hope for this project.

LOL!
It is pretty funny stuff.

Ridley's or perhaps Cobb 'DNA' is obvious in the sets, esp pics 4, 21 & 28 where the hatch openings and padded walls look very familiar. Since this is set years before the original, no problem. We can probably depend on a few cheats here and there. Remember Ridley's famous quote for something not belonging in a shot ... 'It does now, mate!'

A great excuse for set upgrades might be science vs towing vessel.

Same set with a few more at the bottom - http://www.prometheus-movie.com/news/40

That is a fan-made trailer. There is actually a real preview trailer that was screened a few weeks back from the comic con footage, I'll see if I can find the description.

Found it:

A good teaser photo:

I'm stoked.
Definitely has the Alien visual style going on.

June?
Oh God, I hope I can make that long....

BTW, is this still going to be a 2-parter?

That was the talk a year ago with the first script.
Ridley talking about a connection to Alien in the last minutes hints at 1 film. They could cut it to leave some room, but..?

AFAIK, the only connection to ALIEN will be "the space jockey" they find when they first enter the ship.

They Find? Is there a script to read somewhere?

Interesting.

Looks like Ridley is recreating the lighting style of the original Alien movie.

One of the stylistic earmarks of Alien was Ridley's insistence on "back-lighting" (I seem to remember this was the term he used..it's been a long time...). He wanted the images to have a mysterious quality, but also real contrast and a sense of depth. To do this Scott would choose to do a sort of opposite lighting than typical films: He'd have the foreground darker, and the background lit brighter, often progressively so that the very furthest parts of the set were lit up brightest. This progressive illumination of the background against a darker foreground gave a great sense of detail and depth the the image. (In the original Alien, look at the depth of the first interior ship hallway shots. Even in the white room in which the crew members first awake, the back panel of the room is lit brighter for more depth).

Ridley continued to use that technique at least for a while (through BladeRunner, Legend, as I remember0. I remember reading Scott's comments about his lighting approach and immediately employing it in my own short B+W films with nice success.

Good Eye. Should be interesting to see what he does with the new equipment.
You could argue against a film or 2, but never his ability as a great craftsman.

Not a true script, but an outline - have to go back in pages on this thread.

Ah, no worries. Hard to say how the cut will go.
Speaking of edits - he's using Scalia on this one (Gladiator, Hannibal, Black Hawk Down) We'll miss Rawlings
post #327 of 2359
They can cut it to PG13 for the theatre for all I care, as long as Ridley Scott does whatever he wants on his own cut on the blu-ray.

I don't think anyone would consider this a spoiler, but here's your warning just in case.

From the film's Facebook page:
Quote:

Ridley Scott, director of Alien and Blade Runner, returns to the genre he helped define. With Prometheus, he creates a groundbreaking mythology, in which a team of explorers discover a clue to the origins of mankind on Earth, leading them on a thrilling journey to the darkest corners of the universe. There, they must fight a terrifying battle to save the future of the human race.

That seem would back up some of the synopsis from a couple of months ago.

Perfectly ambiguous - doesn't spoil a thing.
If anything it's much less than the short lived synopsis posted at IMDB.

Here’s the warning up front: if you prefer to learn some of the character and story points of Ridley Scott‘s sorta-Alien prequel Prometheus only through the eventual trailer and film release, beware of what follows. There aren’t big super-serious spoilers below, but there might be a tidbit or two you don’t want to know yet.
