Oh man....what is the point with chest-gnawing-bursting aliens in a made-for-kids movie ?
Not saying that the movie can't be good but that kind of defeat the whole idea.
We are going backwards, 1979 R-rated, 2011 PG-13, or is the idea that PG-13 today is 1979's R-rated?

So the Space Jockey (or pilot) is a humanoid after all...so what is the thing in the chair from the original Alien?

No but it's frikkin' Aliens, man! You wouldn't want to see a PG-13 Friday the 13th or whatever would you? Don't get me wrong. It still looks good and you bet your ass I'll go see it but... c'mon. Don't defend the totally unnecessary lower rating. Cool movie franchise or not.

It doesn't.
Frankly, I never pay attention to the "rating" when I select a movie to watch.
It's more about what I am in the mood for.
I like movies rated anywhere from G to NC-17...it really doesn't matter as far as I am concerned.

If there isn't a chestburster scene in Prometheus, fine by me.
After all, been there....done that.

I'm sold.

I had my doubts (and still, with Scott's spotty track record of pulling of movies that I find fully satisfying, I harbour doubts)...

But the visuals at least look pure R. Scott. Amazing atmosphere and there is that fantastic eye for lighting/cinematography in place, so it's a very encouraging trailer.

ETA: Just downloaded the 1080p version of the trailer and OMG, the visuals are incredible.

BTW, the original Alien trailer (available on youtube) I think is a masterpiece: creepy, dread-filled, relentless, increasingly nerve-wracking.

Wow that trailer is fantastic. To say I can't wait would be an understatement.

I read some new comments from Scott a couple of days ago where he stated that the "pilot" we saw in Alien was in fact a suit, not a skeleton and he wanted to explore who/what was in the suit. (obviously)
He also flat out stated that there will not be any xenomorphs in the movie. (I'll look for the link)

Trailer looks great. Is that the ship from Alien that is shown crashing?
