Any guess on what that bag on the right is? I have my own theory which I'll get to later but wanted to see what others think. Anybody?

OK, OK, so not that many LED guys here. It was worth a shot. The guys at Candle Power Forum concur, it's a 45.

Props sell the story. This one has 3 heads instead of the typical 1. I have the version prior to this with 1 large head and a quad LED emitter. For those who might be curious, this series from Fenix is 10 plus times brighter than a typical 3D maglight. It runs on 8 AA cells.
I'm guessing 99.9% would think this prop was designed at pinewood for the shoot. The suits, helmets, etc. certainly are.

Vehicles and ship look very much like Ron Cobb from years past. Yes, Cameron used Ron's work.

My take: It's a flaming bag of poop to be left at the door of alien's ship after getting her request for a sample of life form formula rejected by aliens.

This...I like.

This is going to be the longest 6 months, hope it explains more or so the orgins as oppose to a chase of every crew member dead. So we can forget those horrid Alien Vs crap.. I can't freaking wait.

I believe these three-headed flashlights were used on Terra Nova recently as well, because they look "futuristic."

Is there an actual point to having three heads, rather than one big one? Seems kind of superfluous to me.

Large LED "lights" are hard (and expensive) to manufacture, which is why America hasn't dumped the Edisons quite yet.

This is one of my top 3 films to see this year. I still haven't seen Alien 3 or 4, but love 1 and 2. These kinds of ideas about where we come from fascinate me. Even if they are just ideas. Hopefully this is a huge hit and we get more writers, directors and studios on board to make films with more thought behind them. I've seen enough about aliens wanting to take over the earth.

Lucky you, Come to think of it I haven't seen 4 in it's entirety either.

You guys are not missing anything at all. I would even suggest not to watch 3 and or 4 at all. They spoiled this franchise.

Agree - Ridley probably took one look and said "OK, That Works"

Many people at the CPF questioned the 3 head design last year. The latest model (TK41) went back to a single XML LED with even more power. The lower setting uses only 1 of the heads and reduces heat to a point in the middle settings. The Flood vs Throw balance is effected by the design as well.
Likely the 3 head design allowed Fenix to use an existing LED at a lower cost between the previous 4 LED single head and the new high power single.
The LED innovation going on in China is interesting to say the least. At the risk of being political where I should not be - ever wonder why it's there?

BTW, the 'T' designates Tactical in the series, but it's larger than what most Cops and Mil use with weapons and clip-on, etc.
This series is a midpoint between common 123 cell carry lights and portable HID lights used in Star Trek for all those irritating glare flare shots.

Or sponsorship from Fenix.

Yeah I hear you, I've been ODing on everything Prometheus, even the mystical aspect which imho is a bad choice to call a ship, not destined to come back in one piece.

I really never understood why 3 wasn't a focus on finding the Alien's home world be it for scientific interest or extermination, seems like it was the next natural step to me.

Is that the one were she's bald? I didn't see it completely either, but I felt they where going were most horror flicks go, a endless amount of stupid baseless story lines.

I want to get 1 and 2 on Blu ray and see them again, guess I would have to but them individually though.

The weakest of all imo is really Resurrection, I can live with Alien 3 actually, which I don't find so bad after all. Yet, I also like Jeunet's work in general so he's forgiven Besides, the Anthology on Blu-ray is such a phenomenal set I sure don't regret my purchase.

Resurrection doesn't exist in my mind.

I can live with 3, but never understood why they felt the need to focus the series on Ripley instead of the main attraction. I'm sure most of us would have been fine with Ripley's story ending after Aliens.

Prometheus seems to me like the perfect segway back into the 'Alien universe'. Since I doubt this will be the last Alien movie, here's to hoping that they don't feel the need to continue any one person's story beyond Prometheus.

If you could have taken the storyline of 3&4 and combined them into ONE movie, it could have been a proper sequel to Aliens.

Warning: Spoiler! (Click to show)

For example, when Ripley and company make it back to civilization (completey bypassing the idiotic prison planet plot) the company discovers a face hugger or egg had been stowed or laid onboard the escape craft.
This is then taken into their labs to be studied and genetically mucked with (as in Alien 4).
Mayhem ensues.

Eventually, of course, in later chapters, humans would make a concerted effort to wipe the universe clean of the basterds (thank you QT).

My only concern:

And in these later chapters, are they all dialogue driven or does Donnie get to hit a couple more out of the park?

Newt serves as the "host."
The chestburster kills her and it is captured.
Of course, Ripley would go into a complete funk and do everything possible to kill the damn thing and sabotage the research.
NOW, we have a true sequel to the greatest sci-fi horror/action movie ever made.

I recommend skipping 3 and going to 4.
At least 4 has SOME decent action (and SOME disturbing horror) in it.
3 is the biggest sequel letdown in movie history.

Renny Harlin wanted to do something like that, but his version would have been limited by having to follow with more 'Action'. Interview is on Disk 6 of the quadrilogy or extras of the BD set. The budget was too much at the time, so he bailed on the project after months of working on it.
