The archaeology and the same symbols, different cultures bit = right out of AvP 1.

I figure that they gotta do that stuff for the guys my age and younger who may be seeing their first Alien movie here. AvP might have been their first introduction to both Alien and Predator franchises. I can't imagine such... but...my generation (and younger) is pretty lame.

I am such a fanboy of this series I just can't stay from an IMAX 3D presentation....I just can't.

Isn't that what digital cinema is for? So a seamlessly branched R rated version can be shown after 10pm, or even midnight showings?

Great idea!!!

The MPAA forbids duel releases. You cannot have an R rated and a PG-13 rated film in release.

Obviously that rule needs to be changed because this situation is growing worse every year and we are near a point where it is impossible to make an R rated film in Hollywood.

Okay, give it a different title and let them fight it out in court...after we've seen it. I have no idea what strength/leverage the MPAA really has. What are the consequenses in this day and age of filmmakers/studios saying p*** off, and releasing two versions? Sorry to sound rather libertarian, but is it not just another layer of regulation imposed on us?

Yes, change the rule...IMO.

I must see this movie.

I just can't wait for this movie. I'm also curious to see, or actually hear, what Marc Streitenfeld is going to come up with on the musical side... He has collaborated with Ridley Scott several times and while he didn't disappoint, I'm still waiting for an epic, stand-out score from him. By the way and for those interested the music in the international UK trailer is from AudioMachine ("Knights and Lords") so we still don't know anything about the Prometheus actual music yet.

He may be from 'The House Of Hans' so to speak, but I agree. Nothing that stands out. Perhaps Body Of Lies?
The trailers sound like temp stuff.

That's the way it should be actually, if they can offer 2d and 3d then why not 2 different cuts?

Edit: I see that there is a rule against that by the MPAA, like Cam man says eff them, and they wonder why some people won't set foot into theaters, and just wait for the HV release.

not sure I follow? Do you mean the same digital hard-drive copy can have two versions of the same film one softened down for PG-13 during daytime and the evening shows showing the R rated version. All off the same digital hard-drive print.

Yeah it would or may give a film more of chance to make its money back?

DVD and bluray on some films have the same means or extended versions added.

I think now is the perfect time to open up my Aliens Blu-Ray Anthology.

Same

The final comment by Lindelof (last 20 seconds of the video) shows how different in scope the theme of this film is compared to the original 'Alien' movie. What a profound premise to base a science fiction film on.
This trailer was better than most sci-fi movies I've seen in the last twenty years. I'll be there at midnight, with a Ripley wig on and an I love Ridley Scott t shirt, over my full body alien warrior costume.
A slooooowed down Prometheus trailer. Making it almost 10 minutes long.

It's pretty freaky.
