I've simply noted that, for instance, in the new trailer featuring sections of dialogue, Charlize to me is coming off as a one-note corporate baddie. I have not therefore declared the acting in the film a failure: I have simply expressed hope that there will be more nuance (and hence that we get a good script/performance from Ridley on this one). We'll see.
Ever consider she might be a damn robot? Ash's Mommy? Who knows
Looks like a nice mix of nerds, jarheads, Pilot, evolving synthetic.

Ridley Scott pretty much said as much at Comic-Con last year. He said that there would be at least two robots in the movie. We know that Michael Fassbender is one. Watching the trailers, I'll leave it to you to put 2 and 2 together.
I'm getting the feeling that Fox dropped the ball somewhat on this last trailer.
It was too much.
As someone eagerly awaiting this film, I would search the news and blogs whenever a new trailer/teaser/viral video came out. Up until now the blogs and comments sections have been characterized by pretty much unanimous positive praise for the web campaign for this film. It's been continuously held up as a model of building hype while maintaining mystery, hence heightening intrigue.
But now for the first time I'm seeing negative comments on the fan sites. And not just a little: there is even a skew towards a higher proportion of negative comments in the comment sections. Many are disappointed, even flat out angry, that this trailer has come out showing so much - seemingly the major plot points, even some of the alien forms. It's like seeing the movie will now mean just filling in the spaces between a plot you already know. It even seems to show the "ultimate solution" used by the crew in the final act. I've seen people saying their anticipation has now dropped somewhat for the film, because of this last trailer tipping the scales to overload in hype and in giving away the content.
It's really weird, and truly too bad, that a campaign that was looking like the gold standard for how to do it, would suddenly drop the ball with such a misstep. Certainly it's standard in movie trailers to give away too much info, but that seemed precisely what Scott and company were aiming to avoid. So it's baffling why Scott would have signed off (if he does) on these final moves.

In one comment thread, a person said they knew people who were brought into work on FX for Prometheus. He said they were bummed out by having to spend their time having to fix poor FX work done by others for the film. And that the impression of the film given by these FX people did not leave him optimistic.
FX-wise, all the trailer stuff looks stellar to me so far.
I was unaware of yet another trailer. Clearly I shall do my best to avoid. Hopefully it won't be in front of The AVENGERS, otherwise I will have to close my eyes (I've done it before).

The new trailer really is too much. I'm sorry I watched it, because it very much feels like an elided version of the full story from beginning to end.
The orginal Alien trailer was really the way you should do a trailer.
Damned straight.
One of, if not THE best trailers of all time. It gives me chills. I liked the TV spots as well with the EGG...just an overall feeling of mystery and dread.
The original Jaws commercials were classic as well. No one has equaled, to my mind, the narration of Percy Rodrigues...the voice of cold authority:
"It is as if God created the devil, and gave him...Jaws!"
"None of men's fantasies of evil, can compare to the reality...of Jaws!"

There are more than enough blogs making noise about the spoil factor. You can step back and realize it's just saturation. What percentage of the potential audience is digging out every morsel? It has to be small.
The hate on the new trailer is huge, so wouldn't it be nice if the studio listened for once and pulled it? Just yank it off the net and from theaters. The prior trailer, the one we all got excited over, was enough. More than enough.

+2
Way too much info given in the new one, I wish I could unwatch it. The prior trailer was perfect as is. I'm still looking forward to seeing this but I feel like I have much more info than I like going into a new movie.
Thank goodness I didn't watch the new trailer like I did with TDKR! Trailers are absolutely horrible these days. Subtlety is lost on the studios and they end up giving away far too much in almost every preview I watch. Normally, I avoid them at all costs, but every so often it can't be helped and I'm stuck watching a condensed version of the full-length feature. That's not what a trailer should be damn it!
I'm glad I didn't watch the new trailer.
Considering what everyone has been saying, it would probably piss me off more than anything else.
As it stands right now, I have decided I won't be watching late trailers to movies I know I am going to see.
I'll watch trailers to movies I don't know about or haven't decided on, but that is about it.
lwright has been great about posting up trailers for movies that fly under the radar; I have "discovered" a lot of fine films thru his links and will continue to view them.
