Bugs fixed in 1.2.08 and 1.02.10 (excepting subs fix) = 0

New features added = 0

Simple as that... and now you can shout and cry all over here with your (probably WD paid) arguments...

concerning HD AUDIO playback, do not forget to fix the spdif 24bit/96KHz issue. Also the 24bit/88.2KHz one (!!!).
Why WD TV downsamples HD music files (wav, flac) ?

It seems that many people are upset with the fact that WD decided to fix the crippled Greek subs support introduced with the 1.02.xx series of firmware but let's look at the facts

In the Official Customer Feedback page the feature request is as of today like this:

Top 10 feature list of the official WD uservoice thread

1. Full DVD ISO support -> officialy planned
2. Support fot network adapter /share -> under review , so status unknown'
3. Downconvert DTS to stereo , planned for the next hardware release. Cannot be done in the current gen. So, it cant be done!
4. USB power off. DONE! (The LED cannot be switched off, alas)
5. Copy Files -> planned
6. Better Mkv compatibility ->planned
7. Go to precise time ->under review
8. Subtitles features (colors, bold, italics etc) ->planned
9. Blue ray subs -> status unknown
10. Fix Greek Subs bug -> DONE!

So if we exclude the "cannot be done/under review/unknown/done" things the Greek Subs request was the 5th more popular request planned and it was an easy one to fix , so they fixed it first!

Another interesting statistic is that 3 out of 10 , from the top 10 features are subtitle related , so the subtitle functionality is more important than the native english speakers may think!

Constructive criticism is the way, and it all started that way, (WD listened and Scott attended the Forum) only to turn into whining and attacking WD and telling how they sucked for the umpteenth time, since you think you know how much time it should take to do bug-fixes and implement new features...

I'd just like to remind everyone that Popcorn Hour's FW is the matter of 2 years of bug-fixing to reach the current state of affairs..since WD couldn't "steal" the NMT code, they had to start from scratch...

As far as I see, I'd say that it's No1, as the rest are feature requests, and the sub issue is a bug.

For me even though I haven't tested it (V10) it is a major version as it has a fix.

Yes, that's weird, the only explanation being that they didn't sell enough in Arabic-speaking countries to warrant support or they didn't legally enter the market and the available units are a gray import...

I believe it was primarily just a US/EU device that got out of control

A valid point. But I think you actually mean either 750 million or 750,000,000 not 750,000,000 million.

This is true! I'm more than a bit surprised at how many people use subtitles!

Hi guys
this is my first post & i hope this info is useful , i just found out by chance that u can actually us Arabic subs in Wd tv ! just use (SUB+IDX) files and it will play the font nicely . srt subs will not show.

Is the lack of Full DVD ISO Support the reason my I have to play each VOB file? I put my DVD's in a folder with the name of the folder the same as the movie name. I put my jpg cover in that folder. when I open it to play it I get the 4 or 5 VOB files listed. I have to click the first one and when it's done the next one etc. I hate it! Is there any other way???? Please....

Sheldon,

When you want to play continously all the VOB files in the folder, you choose the first VOB fille then press the "Play" button not "Enter" button then it will play the VOB and move on to the next VOB and so on and so forth.

I have been a silent member of this forum for quite some time now and am a satisfied owner of a WDTV. I guess, it all depends on what you use it for, what is your set-up and what media files you are playing.

The downgrading to Stereo never was a problem for me because I have an audio receiver hooked up to my WDTV via optical cable. Subs were never a problem for me because I only watch english movies or movies in my native tongue. Also, I never got used to watching movies with subs, it actually is distracting for me to read while watching (again matter of preference).

I only play MKV, VOB, AVI, MP3s which all play well in my WDTV. It does have some hickups (the green screen) which I find annoying but the files do skip when played on my PC so the file is the issue here. But having WDTV recover from the green screen on its own would be nice (without needing to do a FF then play). But those files that have hickups represent just 2% to 5% of my movie collection (I have 3Terabytes of movie collection, so far).

I know the limitations of the device and for the price I am contented with it. Again, maybe because of my usage. I know there could be improvement, and I know that WD team is making improvements by constantly releasing versions.

Wow, I didn't even realize that WDTV had another prerelease upgrade until 15 minutes ago. ScottWD's twitter was where I thought these sorts of things were first announced, but he has been silent for a few weeks. The WD twitter feed also made no mention...

Too bad I had to come in here to find out about it, only to be exposed to all this baseless squabbling and vitriol littering most posts.

Might be why they don't bother being part of the community currently...

Although i would personally like to see full dvd iso support over more subs, i'm sure they want to sell more units to the folks that need said subs, so therefore they prioritize.

/still using 1.01.03 for the hub support and aggregate ability
//turning off the subs first is a pain though

In my opinion the most of the discussion around here is caused by a lack of communication from WD site. On my personal wish list the DVD menues #1 and USB hub #2. But yes I know thats nothing what was promised by WD and anyway Im disappointed not to have. I understand perfectly if they fixed sub-titel problems. Esp. for a country like Greece and South-Corea. In that countries there is a high competition and the people are willing to spend money. I can also understand a bit why Arabic isnt there so far. Yes there is a huge amount of people they speak but how big is the market who really will buy such products? I dont know but ist seems WD see the priorities. Of course there can be just technical problems behind why its not available.
Anyway it would be really helpfull for everyone, I think, if WD would give more information. Like what will definitley come or not and when, what is planned and what does it mean?And perhaps also give some hints why it is difficult to implement and so on. Just that everyone has a chance to see they listen and they willing to improve in one or the other point.

It's sold officially in my country through an authorized dealer . The internal warrenty is written in Arabic . I even registerd My WD online . It's all official
