Pro-111fd VS UN46B800 for Wii gaming (480p)

Hi everyone, I am going to replace my old sony wega with a new tv, either the pro-111fd, UN46B800, or the UN46B9000 when it comes out. (Possibly even the Sony XBR8 led lcd?) As of now I am leaning very slightly towards the pioneer...

I will be using the TV in the following percentages:

84% Wii 480p gaming

8% Blu-ray movies

7% HD basketball and football games

1% Messing with all the advanced features in the tv lol

A couple more things to mention:

I will mostly be watching tv, movies or games at night

I have a deal where the pioneer is suprisingly slightly cheaper (by $300)

I do care somewhat about brightness and I kinda like a little oversaturation of color (the samsung and sony exceed the pioneer in this area)

My Questions:

I hear from cnet that the pro-111fd does not display SD signals very well, would that be fixed by eliminating video processing in game mode?

What exactly does game mode do in the pioneer, samsung, and sony vs standard mode besides no video processing?

Does the Samsung display SD game signals very well?

And one last thing, would it be a good idea to get an external upscaler, or is the upscaling on the tv panel just as good? Also would the upscaling be removed in gaming mode since the video processing is also removed?

So overall I am basically wondering which TV would be best for mainly the 480p wii

No matter how you set its output, the Wii will look better on any CRT you can find in the garbage for free than it will on any flat panel HDTV. If you're buying the Pro-111fd primarily to enjoy your Wii games, I'd strongly suggest rethinking your purchase.

are you sure? my wii on my g10 looks infinitely better than on any CRT... just be sure to get the component cables and output at 480p widescreen. its no different than the SD DVD players, which look pretty darn good on hdtv flat panels.

to answer the op's question: go with the pioneer. LED backlit TV's are still in the first gen phase while pio plasmas are the best in the business.

I second getting the Pioneer. I got the KRP-500M and then got the component cables for the Wii. It looks great playing Mario Kart on 50"!!!!

I'd consider how important that 15% Blu-Ray/sports watching is to you, because a Wii is severely outclassed by both of those displays. I'd buy something for under a grand if it would be on near-constant Wii duty.

Thanks for the advice, but do you really think the panasonic would handle 480p signals better?

The thing is, we need a new tv to replace our old sony wega, so this will be basically our main tv, and pretty much the only one my family will use... And my parents and I do kinda care about the PQ when watching a blu-ray movie or sports (My parents wont buy it anyway if it wont display sports or movies very well, since they're paying for 2 thirds of the price lol)

TO EVERYONE: I also forgot to mention that I do already have the wii 480p component cables
