I would agree the denon dvd-1800bd is not a real winner and I would not recommending purchasing one unless the price were right (around $150). I believe this player, the Marantz 7003, and the Onkyo 606 are nothing more then thinly veiled Funai clones - same as $100 Magnavoxes at Wal-mart.
The transport player (2500btci) on the other hand is a very nice unit even though it is largely suspected to be a panasonic dmp bd30 on steroids.
To Denon's credit, the 2010 looks like an admirable player and might be able to challenge the oppo on some fronts if it were more reasonably priced ($400 as opposed to $600). Mine arrives tomorrow and I will be able to put them head to head. Denon did the right thing (that Onkyo did not) in putting together a decent machine with a reputable video chipset (ABT) and high quality audio section (burr browns) in the 2010. Onkyo simply rebadged another magnavox with the DV BD507.
