Happened again last night - on disc 3 of Lost season 1. It's happened on all 3discs.

It does happen just once - but it was at the 19 minute mark. Glad to hear it isn't a layer change issue - I thought about that at first.

I'm going to test a few more discs over the weekend and if it keeps happening, the unit is going back. It's really annoying in any player, much less one supposed to be "reference".

Thanks for your input guys.

this is a bit weird considering the bd transport is somewhat tried and trusted (seems like the same as the 1800/2500). wonder if the abt chip is causing it.

have you all reported it to denon?

I will be totally bummed if freezing happens on the 2010CI.
I have already had to deal with my Panasonic BD80 and random freezing incidents.
If these Denon players start showings signs of freezing, I give up.

The player does not display the bitrate meter on BR discs

freezes and lipsynch errors (like in the LG 390) are just embarrassing, especially on a $700 msrp unit. I wonder if the authoring of certain discs is problematic. I have lost season 4 on blu ray and never noticed a "hang" on my 2500.

huh. i wonder if the 2010 has a new transport and is not using the trusted, old panasonic chip in the 2500/1800.

I am surprised so many people are having these freezing issues with the current Panasonics. At first it seemed like just some rare few cases but there are so many that it is a bit discouraging. My BD60 has not had any of these issues and I love the player. I am surprised it seems so many people are just keeping their Panasonics and not returning them or sending them off to be fixed.

Sad to hear these issues with this Denon. At this point I have an Oppo 970 DVD-A/SACD & Panny BD60 in my main setup.

the 1610 is out now and more users should yield more info re any freezes or pauses.

I've only had the one with the Deep. Everything else was fine. Watched Coraline last night and it was perfect, also.

I got my unit on Saturday to replace my Pioneer 05fd which seems to work when it feels like it

I really love the 2010 thus far for picture Quality and the speed differance over the 05fd. As well as havent had to worry about what title I put in as it just plays them : )

how would you compare sd dvd upscaling to the 05?

Anyone using the Denonlink cable ? I have a 5308ci that I would like to hook this unit to using the DL. Its 500.00 cable on Denons site. Any idea where to get one at a reasonable price ?

I will test that and report back. I was using source direct to my 5308ci and letting the realta scale. I will compare the 05 to the 2010 internal scaling tonight

I can tell you from off to the tray opening (using eject button ) the Denon opens 7.47 secs faster
and
From off to no disc displayed the Denon is 8.57 secs faster

just placed an order online for one...got it for $100 less than the oppo - figure it's worth the splash based upon what i hear and have experienced with previous denon products. will run it through its paces when it arrives.

gotta say I love the audio side of the 2010.
I heard it up against the panasonic and the jeff beck bluray in a store I deal with and there was no comparison hands down denon.
But for video I coudn't tell the difference with the jeff dvd.

I'm also still waiting to hear somebody else on here who has heard it with multi channel out over analog .,to hear all the latest formats.

why get the oppo to save a few bucks
the burr brown dac chip should say denon

The DenonLink cable is just a shielded cat-5 cable. The 2010CI does not have DenonLink as it doesn't do SACD or DVD-A. The HDMI cable with carry the audio, either bitstream ot LPCM, to your 5308CI

I see the 2010 is up on the uk avland site, wonder if that means not long before it launches here in oz

svphile,

+1 on the DAC's. I'm researching for a friend who is looking for a player to match his Denon receiver.

vm8444,

I appreciate your enthusiasm on what you heard in the store. I would be more interested in how both players sound in your setup at home.

winston9332,

All the outputs are active on the Oppo at the same time. I'm able to bitstream DD & DTS or use the multi-channel for hi rez audio and the dedicated 2 channel for cd playback if I wish. This is all avaiable without going into the setup menu to make changes. This question is more for informational purposes. Again, I'm doing leg work for a friend who's 1st choice is a Denon to match his current setup.

Willie
