Love to offer an answer, but i only used the player for about two hours before updating and did not have enough critical time to view a difference.
My two cents after an evening's use is this:
SD Upscaling might be a hair better than the Pioneer 320/51.
SD Upscaling is not as good as the Oppo in NR and producing fine detail.
SD Upscaling is superior to the Denon 1800 and 2500.
The unit is faster to load than the Denon 1800 and 2500, but by no means fast. Heavy Java discs are just under a minute, Non Java BDs are around 30 to 35 seconds. I was disappointed the eject time when powered off increased by about 3 seconds from the 1800/2500 (this is a pet peeve of mine). I have not experienced a sd dvd layer change yet, but have not thrown enough of material at it. BD performance is excellent.
Tweaking menus are not as good as the pioneer 320, but the denon does offer more memory settings (5 vs 3). Menu response time is good.
The Burr Brown DACs are pretty impressive. I connected the two channel outputs and did a little cd listening last night. I need to do an A/B comparison with the Pio 51's wolfsons - they might just be contenders.
I like this player, but need more time with it.
