GeForce 8300 with 6 channel LPCM question

I have been searching around, but havnt found a concrete answer. I know the 8300 supports 8 channel LPCM, but the charts in the sticky still have U under 5.1 LPCM. I was wondering if anyone had some updated information about this?

I haven't checked for drivers lately, but for my 8200 it was 2 channel or 7.1. I think that's still the situation for the 9000 igp series.

Alright, thanks. Would it even make a difference if i have 7.1 selected in windows even though i have a 5.1 setup only?

yeah if you're in vista you can set 7.1 and then turn off the rear channels.

Alright, i just checked my sound options, and when i select 7.1, it then asks me which speakers i have in my setup, and i have the option to deselect the middle pair as well as the back pair. Which one should i disable? Or does it not matter?

7.1 adds the back surrounds IIRC. So disable those. If it seems wrong do setup again. Change it to what you like.
