Going to pick up a couple of these at RS and was wondering what was the difference?

They have both models available and I was wondering which of the two is the best one to get?

Thanks.

9900 was the old model; the new version is 9950 - get these. If you search this forum for 9900 there were some complaints of: heat, low sound, the remote's button design, etc. - the new version 9950 seems to have most of these problems solved.
I bought two of these 9950 from Radioshack - when on sale $54.99/$14.99. This model has a very nice remote that 'older' folks will appreciate, fairly easy to set-up, has a good 'tv guide/ EPG', remote can control TV's volume (in addition to boxes volume control), pass-thru, etc.
DS 9950 is a good pick.

I agree, I have the older 9900 and for that reason I haven't been that big of a DS fan. It does have all the issues NYC said, in fact it's currently in it's box in my basement, I really don't care for it

OK,
Do these project an old 4:3 picture OK?

The older 9900 does, I would assume the newer 9950 would also but I've not used one to be positive.
