AVR general question

My father is looking for a theater system he likes the Bose....
I know they are CRAP.... for the price... The thing he is sold on is the External display panel that comes with the V20 lifestyles poop. So My question, is there an external display that can be bought for a denon or a onkyo whatever that can give you a display so you can hide your components away...

aside from the on screen display of the avr? ( its video output...)

if your dad wants to buy an external display instead of an audio system, that is his preference. sorry to hear that. bose is a marketing company, not an audio company. this is why you can't a-b compare any of their systems with any other systems in any real setting. amaze and confuse! hey, bose even has informercials these days...no product worth its salt is marketed on infomercials. just tell your dad that his "bose purchase" would be up there with the "thighmaster" and "ginsu knives" and "shiatsu massagers". if he has any brains he will get it, if not, sorry because i.q. is hereditary. ;-)

fortunately I believe I inherited most of my mothers trait when it comes to intelligence and personality so I should be OK. So no one has an external screen the could be connect to the avr, doesn't exist because he is sold on that crap product due to that crap display. Is there a store in So Cal with an audio specialist that will inform him that bose are far from par, because i dont want him blowing money....

Might be a good strategy to take your dad out for lunch and an audition at any local audio store. He may well warm up to some of the other options out there.

Takes a lot of audacity to drag ginsu knives and thighmaster products down to the level of Boze(oes).

And if he doesn't warm up to those other brands - get him drunk and take him back to some of those better sounding systems. You never know - it just might work.
