50" V10 or 54" G10?

Trying to stay under $2k, seating distance is 10-11 ft. from TV.

Which would you choose and why? Thanks!

Well a good question is what are you planning to use it for?

If you have a blu-ray player and use it a lot then the v series would be better.

If not you will probably get a better value with the G series. Only added features to the V series are the single pane of glass design, better handling of blu-ray 24p and I believe digital cinema color which is debatable as to whether it is an improvement or an option many people use.

Both will give you a GREAT picture regardless!

im watching my PN58A550 at approx. 9' away (eye level, sitting on couch) and i am still complaining too small. Im saving money now to get 60-65" :P

Go big and bigger 54" G10!!! Do you need a blu-ray player? amazon offering a good bundle offer now till July 11, 2009 http://www.amazon.com/Panasonic-VIERA-TC-P54G10-54-Inch-Plasma/dp/B00267PY6K/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&s=electronics&qid=1246291959&sr=1-1

My vote is for 54" G10 over the 50" V10. By the way you may be able to find a 54" V10 at that price range.

V10 for sure... the features, the looks... priceless

I don't want to get in trouble for talking about pricing, but I can tell you that the 54" V10 was in his price range at one authorized online retailer a couple weeks ago.

I agree.
I go to 54" if I have that money. I'm also saving one for next month.

I'd take the V10 all day if you could get it in and around the same price bracket.

I edited my post to make it clearer that I mean 54" G10 over 50" V10.
At that distance go with the 54G10. I am loving mine so far. I considered getting the 50V10 before I got the G10, but at the end of the day size rules! The few extras on V10 like 96hz, etc were not enough to overcome the quality and size of the 54G10. Although I do love the design of the V10. The 54G10 is the best value right now when you factor price, size , and performance. Either way you decide you will be getting a great plasma.

The V-10 is superior, BUT, the larger screen size AND the current cost factor of a 54 G-10 would lead me to endorse the 54G-10. Amazon has a GREAT deal on 54 G-10 and a rebate for a BD-60, which makes the BD-60 FREE, after the rebate. It also comes directly from Amazon, not a third party, so you get the benefits and protection of Amazon.

Great, thanks I didn't see that deal, might have to get the g-10 54" from Amazon, really wanted a 58" but who knows when that will be released and how much more expensive it will be.

If you watch Blu-rays get a 54" V10 with 96hz for 1080p24 content. Check out us-appliance.com through the LINK.

Bigger is better with widescreen tv's! I have the 54" V10 and I'm not disappointed. I only wish I had 58" or 65" for 12' viewing distance but the wife says no no no. I didn't like the looks of the G10 with the silver paint at the bottom of the frame either.

I shopped around A LOT before I bought my V10 and that is an excellent deal on a nice tv and a high quality Blu-ray player (I chose the BD-60 myself). Can't go wrong either way but I still think you'd regret it if you went with a 50" instead of a 54" set!

Looks like I going to pull the trigger on a 54" G10 with the free Blue Ray player from Amazon. Who knows when the 58" will finally come out and I expect the prices to be very high for awhile after they do. Anyone here have any experience with Amazon.com electronic purchases? I wonder if they do price protection for any period of time?

That Amazon promotion is VERY TEMPTING! I can get a 54" G10 and BD60 Blu-ray for below my budget.

Only feature holding me back is the V10's superior 24p mode. I'm not a purist and was not aware that I've been watching an "inferior" conversion of movies for all these years. Seeing all the talk about 24p on this forum makes me wonder if it's something I'll miss five years from now. However, many people here say that 24p is a subtle improvement anyway. I could wait until the V10 drops in price but that may be a while.

In my opinion, at 10-11 feet the increased size of the G10 is more important than lack of "judder" with the superior 24p mode of the V10. Even the 54" G10 is less than optimal size at 10-11 feet. You may or may not notice the lack of judder when watching a 24p source (probably a small percent of your use of the set); but you will definitely appreciate the increased size 100% of the time.

I agree, there are a lot of environmental variables to take into account when making the decision. I would go for the bigger screen myself.

Yeah if you haven't experienced BD you have to get on it soon before something new rolls around..It is a great deal but I would take your time unless you are set on getting the V10..I can't see it dropping too much anytime soon.

Still haven't bought it yet and just checked the price on Amazon. It's down another 20 bucks! Amazon is slapping me in the face.
That looks like a great deal, I'm very tempted to pull the trigga!

Lol this is really beginning to make me wonder what's going on. I haven't noticed it so much with amazon but BB seem to like dropping TVs by $500 and then banging others up by $1,000 without any valid reason...|:

Amazon raised it 17 bucks today, should of bought it yesterday but I thought it might go down on the 4th for some reason.

I'm just worried it might go down some more and now I keep thinking I would like to go bigger. I just saw the 60" LG thread and that seems cheap, but I haven't owned anything from LG and currently have 2 Panny plasmas and couldn't be happier. Six inches, not alot but about 22% more screen I figure.

While we are comparing, how about the TH-58PZ800 vs the 54" V10? They are around the same price.

The V10 will play the 24fps without flicker. How much is the difference in the picture quality?
I orginally wanted that model and was waiting till Costco dropped the price to 2 grand which they did. But now I rather go with the new model with the new panels for the energy star rating and the drop of weight. Even with the lost of 4 inches you get a cheaper price and BD player.
