Might want to check a few searches here because I think I've read the XT32 implementation in the 818 is "crippled" as in it does not include the full sub EQ component? I could be wrong on this. Just a friendly heads up.

FWIW, I've used an onkyo 905 (with XT) with the antimode S-II and it does not sound as good as my 5009 with XT32 alone. I haven't run any graphs, just my opinion.

I will most likely sell mine soon.

Why? Upgrading? Not useful? Over promised?

Upgraded to an AVR with Audyssey XT32. Bass is so good with justt XT32 that I figured I don't need it. Too lazy to see how it is with both the Antimode and XT32. biggrin.gif

The Denon AVR-X4000. I like it a lot.

I have a SC-61 pioneer elite on the way, and was considering grabbing a 8033Cinema for my VTF15H.

Couple of questions:

  1. I understand I run the 8033 cal before proceeding with MCACC, but what about sub gain control which wont be tweaked until you see MCACC results? Does that have no bearing on the Anti Mode Cal.
  2. Is there anything in MCACC I should have OFF when using the anti mode?

The manual just makes it like you hook it up, let it do it's thing for 10 mins or so, and then it'll apply that room correction to the sub channel coming in going forward. I get that the signal runs through the Anti Mode and it applies the filters (same principal as a calibrated video processor before the display), but I guess the gain setting is what I do not get. Or does the sub gain setting have no bearing on the room response, meaning the sub will report the same response in a room whether the gain knob is a 25% or 50%?

Thanks.

Gain or level match the subs first. Run Anti-Mode in front of MCACC and then run MCACC.

Once turned on, Anti-Mode runs through about eight iterations and then automatically turns off. If you have REW, put REW in RTA mode and you can watch Anti-Mode go through each of it's sweep cycles.

OK. I only have one sub, so it may be best to run MCACC, determine what is a good volume setting on the sub by where MCACC sets the trim level, then I can go back and run the 8033 setup, then MCACC?

Thanks. My current sub volume was set with an iteration of Audyssey, so it is probably fine where it is.

I'm reading the manual for the antimode and I'm a little confused about the lift settings.

Do they boost frequencies, cut them, or both? I see the part where it says it boosts frequencies by 8db. But there's also another section saying it cuts them by -3db. Is that only when both LED's are on?

Also, if anyone knows any sites I can get the 80333S2 cheaper than dspeaker that would be great.

Brian - did you ever try this? What is your opinion on 818 vs. Antimode?
