This thread is now an official train wreck.

I'm really wondering how $300 players actually stack up versus the better players. We see so many posts about how great some of these $300 players are from some who own them but did folks who are living with them actaully compare them to some of the higher market ones?

And since the higher end players can now be had for some $$$ ...

It just seems the majority of people are locked into the PS3, BD60/80, LG390. Sony S360/560, Pioneer 320, and Oppo mode.

Well I suppose if you like them for the buck, well OK. But no doubt there is higher end to consider but I just don't know how many really have tried some/any of them. And not all of those offerings break the bank.

Everyone needs to relax about which player is better. If you look at my signature you will see that I own several players. Regardless of who is writing a review after any objective testing it is only someone's SUBJECTIVE OPINION and you know what they say about opinions. I follow many threads and I know which posters have biases toward a specific brand or player. I appreciate the work Joe did on the comparison, but I'm not going to be upset because I don't like the order he came up with or my beloved player didn't make the list, because this is his OPINION. If you don't like the order then do your own testing and provide your own OPINION. Five different people can perform the test with the exact same players and come up with a different order. The best player in my house is whatever player I happen to be using at that time. The Denon and the Oppo are in my main setup and my other players throughout my home. I have never read anything on the AVS Forum that has persuaded me to buy one component over another due to the individual biases that exist on every thread.
