2) Are you running your receivers on a UPS or through a voltage regenerator such as a Panamax to prevent power loss?

Any feedback will be appreciated as my goal here is to "avoid" having to be without the unit for another 2-5 weeks while NIC is replaced yet again.

My Network Standby is always active and I am only plugged into a standard powerbar.

On the other hand, I do (now and then) lose my connection to the network and have to tell the 4810 to search for and reconnect to it. This probably has more to do with the fact that I live in an apartment building with some 20 other networks nearby... Otherwise, all is good.

I bought the AVR-4810 and bi-amped my front and surround (free assign mode). Listen to music in the Multi Channel Mode. Sounds great!!! Lot's a power and better bass

Extra info: bypass tone and turn off all the Audyssey stuff and for music I turn off my center

I have 4 x B&W 683

The 3312 will be available in June, appears to have Audyssey MultEQ XT, Airplay included, and still uses the AK DAC's and not the TI/BB Dac's but one interesting thing is the MSRP dropped from $1199 (3311) to only $999 so I wonder if the 4312 will be cheaper, too? And a 4812/lower MSRP too??

Anyway, thought I'd let everyone know as I'm excited!

At least the 4311's will drop in price to around $1000-$1100 like the 4310 is now so I can pick one up and try 'er out if there isn't a new 4812! (I have a 5805CI and have been hesitant to get the 4311 so far, and the 4810 doesn't have Audyssey XT32 which is key for me, but at a lower price point, I may be able to pick one up w/out first selling my 5805 and see/hear if I'm happy with the, errr. upgrade?? )

--Jason

From what i did hear, no 4812 will be made, as we did have in the past when this model 4810 did came it we moved from the 43xx line to 48xx, now we go back again as where we should be at the 43xx range.

The AVR-4810 will be replaced by the AVR-4312 by the end of the year.

The AVR-4312 will be again the top model receiver as it was in the past and also the most expensive, count on the same price as the current AVR-4810.

There will be a huge different between the AVR-4311 and the coming AVR-4312. I hope the AVR-4312 will be replacing my current AVR-4306 by then.

i got some issue with my 4810, suddenly the two surrounds and two surround backs are not working, i tried setting the audio to multi channel stereo also when i got to channel level and i go to those speakers nothing comes out, am using an Emotiva XPA-5 to power them.. tried to connect the fronts to the Emotiva and they work perfectly.. did a rest for the settings..same thing too.. turned everything off and then back on..same thing..anyone got into a similar problem?

ps: everything was working fine yesterday and i didnt change any settings or did anything new to the amp..

Thanks

Try not using the Emo and see if you get sound. This eliminates the possibility the XPA fried. Then check troubleshoot your signal path within the 4311. For simplicity turn all features off and try multichannel stereo with a stereo source. Make sure the front panel shows all 5 speakers processing (right side of panel).

It would be unusual for eithe the XPA or Denon to drop just some channels.

did that thanks, all speakers are showing on the panel and all of them work when powered with the 4810. still waiting for Emotiva to reply to my email which has been sent since 2 days ago.. now at the moment i am powering the wide and height speakers using the Denon, while the other 7 channels are being powered by another XPA-5 & a XPA-3...

thanks again

Issue fixed thanks guys. My Emotiva XPA-5 was the problem not the Denon.

Finally have a chance to setup the new 4810 I received earlier this week! A quick question - my serial number seems to indicate a manufacturing date of June 2010 (starts with 006). I'm surprised to get such an older built unit. The unit was just purchased from Onecall. Do you any of you newer owners have a more recent build date?

That may actually be one of the last made 4810s. The xx10 line was replaced by xx11 and there is no equivalent to the 4810 in the xx11 line. The closest one is 4311.

just some questions regarding the 4810:

1- it tends to get warm/hot although all my speakers are powered by 3 external Emotivas is this normal? also the room is always cool 74-75f and my AV cabinet is open from the sides and top.

2-I think when i set my I/P Scaler to Analogue & HDMI and set my HDMI resolution to 1080p or 1080p:24 it makes 720p content seem clearer coz it upscales them correct? or do you just turn it off for movies? and what do i set the output of my media player (WD TV Live) auto or 1080p? my Panasonic PT-AE3000 supports 1080p50/60/24

Thanks!

I am having an issue with zoning my 4810. Unfortunately I am somewhat of a noob to these "higher end" receivers and the manual reads like greek to me. I am hoping that someone smarter than me might be able to dumb it down for me.

I hooked up my Apple TV to my 4810 via HDMI and Digital. I understand that in order to use Zone 2, an HDMI won't work.... hence why I hooked up the Digital line too.

I am trying to play my iTunes over my pool speakers (Zone 2) but still not working. Is there a way to preset Zone 2 for the Digital line? I am really confused and hoping someone might be able to walk me through it.
I think I have assigned an amp to Zone 2 along with my main speakers. Not ideal, but not sure what I'm doing... lol

thanks in advance to anyone who takes the time to lend a hand!!

How many channels are you using in your main zone? Also, have you hooked up the atv via analog? If your using a separate amp for zone 2 are you connected to the zone 2 preouts?
I am using 5 channels on my main (L, R, C, Sub, and 2 rears). Not sure how to hook up ATV via analog. It only has 2 outs I think... HDMI and Digital Optical.
I am not using an external amp... only the 4810.
My 2 outdoor speakers are plugged into the Zone 2 outs.

You will not be able to send either one. It must be analog. I suggest reading up on batpigworld.com the FAQ section as it relates to zone 2 an denon.
any way to turn off or at least disable all internal amps in my 4810 maybe it could help in my slight heat issue, since am using 3 Emotiva's to power my speakers?

Thanks
^^
Sorry, but not a Denon AVR feature.

Connect via the digital optical and pass the audio as PCM 2.0 which will then go to Zone 2.

If the Zone 2 speakers are plugged into the Zone 2 preouts, they must be "powered" speakers.

Really??? I can't power my 5.1 and Z2 from the 4810 amp? When setting up the amp, I thought there was an option to add + Zone 2.

Am I going to have to purchase a new amp just for my outdoor speakers?
you said "Zone 2 outs" which JD interpreted as the RCA pre-outs. Are they plugged into those (the red/white RCA outs labeled "Zone 2 pre-out") or did you hook them up with speaker wire to one of the speaker posts?

part of the difficulty here is trying to extract sufficient information from you it would be helpful if you describe everything more clearly and explicitly, what speakers you are using, exactly where/how they are hooked up, how you set up settings on the Denon, etc.
Your words were "plugged in to the Zone 2 outs" implying you were using RCA cable to connect from the Zone 2 preouts to the speakers. The 4810 can indeed use the Zone 2 speaker posts to power the Zone 2 speakers when using regular speaker wire.

just FYI -- on the 4810 you wouldn't use Amp Assign/Surr Back, there are actually dedicated Zone 2 / Zone 3 speaker posts. That's probably causing some of the confusion here.

according to pg12 of the manual, you would set "Assign Mode" to "+Z2" and connect the Zone 2 speakers to the dedicated Zone 2 speaker posts.
Oops .. sure enough. Edited my post for correctness. Thanks.
haha... sorry guys. I'm a bit new to all this (in case you couldn't tell ). I apologize if I'm not getting the terminology correct.

I am using Definitive Technologies AW650 Outdoor speakers which I ran with outdoor speaker wire into the Zone 2 posts (not RCA Jacks).

My Main Zone has a 5.1 set-up which I utilize about 99% of the time for my media room (tv, bluray, ps3, dtv, appletv, etc...). But I also would like to use these 2 outdoor speakers in Zone 2 when outside by the pool. For example, playing my iTunes over AppleTv in Zone 2 and still watching tv or a bluray in the Main Zone.

I am not 100% sure what settings I have right now. I have played with it and adjusted them 100 times trying to figure out how to get Zone 2 to work. Let me know what exactly you need to know, and I will check and post back.

thanks for taking the time to help out a lost soul...

start with what I noted above ^^^

1. is amp assign set to "+Z2"?
2. speakers hooked up to Zone 2 posts with speaker wire?
3. zone 2 is ON?
4. zone 2 source has been set to the correct input where ATV is plugged in? (remember there is a totally independent source selection for Z2)
5. play some music on the ATV... if still no noise, confirm that Z2 volume is up? (again, remember that Z2 volume is independently controlled)

This is where I was going wrong. I never assigned the Digital line from the ATV to an assigned input.
Now it works!!!!

OK now that I (we) figured out the ATV, next on the list is figuring out to play the Sirius app to stream Sirius from my iPod Touch to Zone 2. Not to mention all the other apps too... Pandora, Rhapsody, etc... Is that possible? Just hook the iPod up directly to the Denon.

thanks again!

1) plug iPod into USB port, switch to NET/USB input

2) the Denon defaults to "BROWSE" mode, in which it is basically seeing the iPod as an iTunes library only, and displaying iTunes info on the TV screen via GUI. In this mode the iPod screen is "locked" and you control everything through the Denon remote... but you can only access iTunes content.

3) hold down the [SEARCH] button on the Denon remote for 2 sec and it will switch to "REMOTE" mode. The GUI disappears but the iPod screen now becomes active, and you can operate the iPod directly and play audio from any App.

FYI - this is one thing that is actually well explained in the Denon manual, pg 68
post #3688 of 3997
Hi

My Denon 4810 displays Multi channel in on the display no matter what codec is being played from the disc. It is connected to an Oppo 83. I know it is decoding the right format as when I press the Oppo's "i" it shows for example DTS MA or DD True HD. But why is this not displayed on the Denon?

Thanks
The Denon is receiving PCM and thus has no idea what codec it came from. If you set the 83 to bitstream its HDMI output in the Oppo menu, the Denon will then do the decoding and will indeed indicate the codec on the FPD. This is actually the recommended way of doing it, though most people report no audible difference regardless of where the decoding to PCM takes place.

Hi Guys

What sort of premium headphones can you run with the 4810?

Specifically - is there a maximum or minimum ohm-age that it can handle

Can anyone give me a sense as to how decent the 4810 is vs say a dedicated headphone amp

Info seems to be very scarce on this sort of thing

Any info would be greatfully received

cheers
