LG 32LF11 vs Vizio VL320M

Hey everyone, I'm doing some research for a TV I plan on buying for my dorm in college which will later be taken to an apartment. The two TVs in the title have caught my eye, and I was wondering what people thought about them. I've read a good bit about Vizio, but most of the stuff was about the VOJ32 from last year. Since they are the same price now, I figured I would go with the updated version. And I cannot find anything on the LG; I'm assuming it's new and sites haven't gotten around to reviewing it.

Anyway, if anyone has any input on either TV, or have compared both of them, that would be greatly appreciated.

Lastly, is now a good time to buy a TV? Meaning, I want it to last a good bit, so if there is new technology that significantly changes the TV landscape, I want to wait for it. Thanks again.

The Vizio VL320M is on sale at Target this week for a cheaper price than BB has for the LG 32LF11.

I second the Vizio, they put out fantastic 32 inch Tv's.

I saw that the Vizio was cheaper, but only by $30. That's why I wanted to know if anyone has had experience with either TV. I don't mind paying an extra 30 if the LG is superior to the Vizio.

Just, I bought this tv and is beautiful with cable and BR disc. I paid only $485. in target.

I bought the Vizio yesterday from Target.

The Vizio is a great TV. I am using primarily it as a computer monitor. The TV does not do 1:1 pixel mapping thru HDMI. The TV looked good using DVI -> HDMI from my computer. However, I couldn't use full mode. I used Zoom 1 with some adjustments to H and V position and H size to fill the screen. The screen was filled completely on both sides but not the top and bottom. I had very small black bars on the top and bottom that I could not get rid of.

I then switched to the VGA input and the PQ got a lot sharper and it filled the whole screen. Who would have thought that VGA would produce better PQ than HDMI.

The TV is very nice. I have tested it with Directv and HD channels look very good.

I would definitely recommend this TV especially since it is on sale this week at Target.

There are a lot picture settings that can be adjusted but not as many as some high end TV's.

i just bought the LG 32LF11 yesterday on best buy for $530, they didn't have it on display because its a new model, i only found out about it because the salesman recommended it to me, i went home, set it up easyly and tested it with my 360 (playing halo 3). Im using and HDMI cable so i'm getting the best quality possible, anyway... from the moment the dashboard showed up i was amazed, it simply looked beautiful, i started playing halo, and i noticed a little lag when using precision weapons specially the sniper rifle and the BR(aldo it was barely noticeabe), everything else was great, and a casual gamer wont even notice the lag, however i like the sniper rifle and i wasnt able to use it properly. i then turned to game mode and bam!, no lag, im not saying its as quick as a regular tv, but i was no scoping and sniping regularly

bottomline, the tv its perfect, if you just wanna use it for tv theres no better choice, if you want to game on it and you are kind of hardcore you only need to change to game mode and you're set, i give LG a 5/5 rating =) hope this helps

p.s. the design of the tv its also stunning

i also picked up the LG 32LF11 yesterday and i'm hoping that it'll turn out to be the right choice. I have it hooked up over VGA to my computer and blu-ray and hd-dvd's look great with little calibration. I'm not sure about cable TV yet.

Mike, was there any blurring like what's been reported with the 32'' samsungs?
I didn't see any blurring with the Vizio.

One thing I forgot to put my above post is that the black levels are decent. The LG TV's that i had prior to buying the Vizio had better black levels.

I'm thinking about picking up a 32 incher for my bedroom, to play PS3 and watch DVD/Blu-ray on. Best Buy has a pretty good price on the LG 32LF11, but I've never bought any LG products before. I'm unsure, so can someone vouch for this set?

Also, does anyone know where this set is manufactured? I prefer not to buy Chinese-made anything.
I'm sure the LGs are made in S. Korea. One of the few manufacturers who make their own panels, so they have first choice. I have two LGs and very satisfied with them.

I took a look at the 32LF11 at Best Buy today. It seems to be a pretty nice set and its 1080p picture definitely looks better sitting next to the 720p sets. I also checked/found that the set is "Assembled in Mexico".

just scored the 32lf11 for $399.99 at my local best buy. no complaints so far...
How did you get the 32LF11 for $399.99? Please share!
The price for the LG 32LF11 is currently showing up on the BB website at 529.99.
How did the price get to 399.99 ? Open box ? Coupon ?
Please share your great find !!

there were 2 tax free days in my neck of the woods(lake charles, louisiana). I went in there not planning on buying a tv but I couldn't pass a deal like that up. There were several deals on tvs and other random electronics. None of the deals were advertised afik had stacks of several items with signs on them...

the best part is that I only paid $120 out of pocket since i had several gift cards...

I have the VL320M plugged in as a monitor and it's 1:1 mapping. You have to pretty much turn off every picture "enhancing" feature on the TV.

The only problem I'm having with it is that reds appear blown out, things like red text have a sort of aura around them and just don't look very good. I haven't spent much time messing with it yet to see if I can fix it. The only thing I've done is run through an automatic calibration with my Spyder 2.

Overall I'd say it's a pretty darn nice TV for the price. HD programming looks nice on it, games look great at the native resolution, color reproduction is pretty decent for things like movies, I would definitely not use the set for photography editing or anything. That's what I kept my 2005FPW around for though!

Hi

I just picked up VL320M from Target. It is very nice. I'm just wondering that mine is all black color and the one at Vizio.com has brownish(java) color. Was VL320M(black) designed for Target exclusively?

Thanks

I just bought the VL320M from Sears and mine is also all black. I was wondering if anyone has the optimal picture calibration settings for this LCD. Im pretty clueless as to where the settings should be. Thanks in advance.

I would first go into the advance features and turn off basically all of it, ie color enhancement, flesh tone, adavtive luma, Dynamic Backlight or DCR

put the Picture mode on either Standard or Custom. for color temp, just scroll through the options until you find the one you like.

Put the contrast, brightness, color at 50 and then adjust from there.

I was checking it out in Sear's. The VL is a very nice looking set. Really nice picture.

It is our first HD TV and I love it. I haven't really watched tv in our living room since we bought it. Plus it was a good deal. Win win...

Hi Everyone,

I just purchased the Vizio VL320M on Saturday from Sears. When I press the power button on the TV remote, it takes about 10 seconds for the TV to be fully on and i can watch TV. Does anyone else experience this? Is this just my TV or is this all LCD TV's?

Any information would be awesome.

Thanks,
Max
It is normal. I was setting up my Harmony remote to work with this TV and I had to put 11 seconds delay to make it work properly.

I've had that happen too. Im used to it now though. My poor family room home theater is probably getting a tad jealous due to my watching almost exclusively on the the 32" in the bedroom. Oh well, the family room gets upgraded next christmas.

Just got a great deal on the 1080p LG 32lf11...

NewEgg has it for 399.99 (+ 9.99 shipping, no tax in NY).

Bing Cashback Gold Rush gets you 10% back at NewEgg until 12/2.
(399.99 - 40) + 9.99
= 369.98

In-store Black Friday "doorbuster" deals (Best Buy, Walmart, Target, etc..) had a bunch of 32" 720p LCD displays (Sony Bravia, Panasonic Viera, Toshiba, etc..) advertised all at around $400. Throw tax on top of that and my Black Friday deal looks even better, for a superior TV.
This may be posted elsewhere on this site, but wanted to let people know that the Vizio VL320M is available through Dell.com for $399.99, but Bing.com cash back currently stands at 20% for Dell (thru 12/2). This item also qualifies for free shipping, so my price delivered (including tax) was $338 and change. Great deal IMHO.

Hope this helps someone.

Ted

Credit to several folks at slickdeals.net for posting the deal!

Is anyone using a 32" 1080p for a monitor? I'm thinking of doing this for "extreme multi-tasking" and movie/tv watching when the big tv is in use. I will probably wall mount it about 3 1/2 feet in front of my desk. The Vizio VL320M looks like a promising solution for this at an affordable price.
I pick up a VL260M friday to use mainly as a tv but i did set it as a second monitor thru hdmi and it looks good as a monitor.I think 26" is big at 3 1/2 feet let alone a 32"
