XBMC Issues (if you use it come inside)

XBMC (Home Theater PC Front End)

I've noticed that when I play my MKV files (5.1 source audio) in something like VLC or Mediaplayer Classic I get the full 5.1, however through XBMC sends a dolby surround (2.0 psuedo surround) via the analog and not the true 5.1 signal. Any ideas why?

In other words (hard to explain)...all 6 speakers are playing audio but the rear channels aren't getting a discrete audio signal but rather a sampling of the front two.

Windows XP Pro SP3
Auzen Xi-Fi via analog outputs
Everything off in the control panel

Thoughts?

I would post your question in the HTPC forum here.

There is a setting to use Dolby digital or pro logic. Set it to digital.

Your audio drivers should do the job of decoding the dolby digital and outputing it via your 6 rca connection.
