how to connect my coax cable and ps3 to my LCD monitor

Hi I have a Samsung 24-inch SyncMaster 2493HM that has an HDMI input and I would like to connect my PS3 and also connect my coaxial cable that's from my wall so I can watch TV on it. (I do not have a cable box or anything like that)

I was told that a tv tuner box is what I need, but I couldn't find one that would have inputs for a coaxial and HDMI (for my ps3) then HDMI out to my LCD monitor.

Also a tv tuner box would also have a remote too, right? (can u tell I really don't know much ^_^ )

thanks for any advice

You should have bought a 24" LCD TV that also can be used as a PC monitor instead of just a monitor. See if you can return the monitor and replace it with a TV. That would be far less expensive then any other solution.

You need a cable box. I agree with the above post that if you can return it for an HDTV, that is the best choice.

The problem is sound from both the PS3 and Cable Box. You can have one or the other since it only has one HDMI input (which carries both audio and video). Adding an AVR would help with that if it had 2 or more HDMI inputs and accepted audio. That will be some money though ($300 about) plus you would need speakers.

You aren't going to find a tuner that does HDMI pass through, if you only have one HDMI input, you'll need an HDMI switcher to switch between the tuner and PS3 or use component for the tuner if your display has a component input.

the option of returning the monitors is not really an option since I got it well over a year ago.

Since it seems like getting both PS3 and coax cable connected to my monitor isn't going to happen.

Is there a tv tuner box anyone would recommend so I can at least connect my coax cable to my monitor?

(side note I do use this monitor for my mac computer)

Pretty much any of the current HD capable tuners can output HDMI. Check the Synopsis sticky at the top of this forum.

You might check if there is a digital tuner available for your Mac, then you could send OTA RF through the MAc to your monitor.
