It's been that price pretty much since Black Friday. Thankfully, Amazon priced it at $25 instead of $24.99 in order to get free shipping without having to buy a $2 AV cable or something. lol

Even better deal if you have the $10 coupon which came with amazon's AC Vita bundle on Black Friday.

I'd be all over it, but It's a Ubisoft game, so it'll be $20 in a month or less.

Square Enix is having a 50% off sale on most everything.. Looks like even DLC is included in the sale; Deus Ex: Human Revolution's Missing Link is $7.49.

Edit: The DLC is available only as a Steam code, not a PSN code.

At Sony's online store, the 32 GB memory card is on sale for $80, and when you add it to the cart an additional $20 is taken off for a shipped price of only $60! I posted this in the Vita thread as well, but want to make sure none of you owners miss it.

Also available:

16 GB for $36
8 GB for $18
4 GB for $12

Still drastically overpriced. Why couldn't Sony just use SD cards? 32gb is under $20, even for the micro SD cards.
As discussed elsewhere, the standard memory sticks allowed a ton of piracy on the PSP. They likely went proprietary on the Vita as an added security mechanism. Proprietary cards cost more money because they don't get anywhere near the same level of mass sales.

With that said, $60 compared to the cost of the max memory card during the PSP's first year, it isn't as outrageous. I'm just glad I didn't bite until now back when the 32 GB was a lot higher.
The Vita has a usb port which pretty much nullifies the advantage of a proprietary card. It is still quite easy to load PSP hacks onto the system.

The SD card on the DSi and 3DS hasn't led to those being hacked. (only DS mode remains hacked for flashcard use)
PSP hacks, yes. Vita hacks, no. Besides, whether or not requiring proprietary memory cards hold up at thwarting Vita-based piracy over time is besides the point. The decision seems to have been made for security reasons either way. Unfortunately that means we end up paying more.

With all the emphasis that Sony systems have had with non-proprietary accessories (standard HDMI cables, USB cables and hard drives for the PS3, standard memory stick for PSP, USB cable for Vita), it doesn't seem to be an arbitrary grab for money when an exception is made.
Were Sony's memory sticks ever used in a non Sony product? I never thought of the PSP's memory as being a standard form of memory and they certainly weren't priced like one.
Many Sony products used them - cameras, TVs, computers/laptops, etc.. Some non Sony products used it too - my dad's video picture frame uses memory sticks to store the photos and MP3s. Plus, pretty much all multi-card readers have a memory stick slot, so it has been as standard as any of the other leading formats.

The exclusive Vita format will never be used with anything else, so that means it will always cost more than the mass market generic brands.

The Vita end of the cable is not a standard connector.
For some reason I thought it had another full USB port besides the one I recharge on.
That connector drives me nuts too. It's easy to plug the cable in upside down.

My backlog just took a huge hit.

It's only $2.00 for Plus members, so I know I can't go wrong, but can someone advise me on Jak and Daxter. I've only been gaming in the current generation (PS3), so whenever I play a PS2 era game, even a franchise I'm quite familiar with like Ratchet & Clank, I have major frustrations with the gameplay and controls (the Sly collection is another example).

Yes, I've been babied by generous checkpoints and other changes in the current generation to make games more appealing to casual gamers. But given my interest for action-adventure platformers, and all the great things I've heard about Jak and Daxter, I'd like to see what the fuss is about without feeling like throwing my controller at the TV the entire time.
It's 2 bucks, just give it a try. I thought the original jak was pretty good.

Pretty solid sale, they creep ever close to steam-level discounts.

Looks like a video game day on Amazon's Lightning Deals. All day long - Far Cry 3 for $34.99 and various other offers throughout the day.

Thanks! My sub expires in March, so before I forget I am re-subbing right now because of this deal.
Same here. Been watching my end date and was gonna wait, but I'll just re-up now. Free extra 90 days is nice.

Who knows? Maybe we'll be transferring the extra balance into our new PS4's this time next year smile.gif
post #775 of 814
That'll be nice. I've been a PS+ member since mid 2010, but the transaction records say I have now only paid twice with this re-up. The first was for a 12+3 month deal like this one, and everything in between came from free PS+ promos I've picked up here and there. I also noticed that I have three more 1-month freebie codes I haven't even used yet. Once I plug 'em in that'll take me to September 2014, which will be over four years of the service for only $100. An amazing bargain.

Dead Space 3 for $39.99 on Amazon today only. Also, other video game lightning deals throughout the day.
Today (Sunday) is your last chance to get 15 months of PS+ for $40 (the $10 credit comes to you in April).

The standard price is 12 months for $50. It's also a good chance to be set for the PS4 if you already have a sub that will expire near its launch date.

Oh wow, great news. Patapon is a great rhythm RPG title if you have never played it, and I actually had my eye on Spy Hunter a month ago.

The only disappointing thing is that they are being stubborn about offering a good sale price on Lumines: Electronic Symphony, but I'll remain patient.
