Hello wildpanda86,

We are based out of Los Angeles, and regularly service all of Southern California. Not only that, we have extensive experience with the Pioneer display line and the patcher installation/calibration you described.

Feel free to check out our site at www.avical.com or email me directly at dave@avical.com.

Good Pictures!

Dave

How do you send command via IP?

Thanks

Connect to the control port (default 4201) and send properly formatted (serial) commands. See the Control Commands section of the Integrator Reference Manual for details.

Note to "AFXTWN": Try the little Oppo HDMI switcher (3 HDMI inputs and 1 output) only about 99 bucks, it works great and NO pic problems!

I like Oppo as much as the next person (obviously) but I don't see any point in paying anything but Monoprice prices for what should be commodity products.

Monoprice X
Oppo 3X
Geffen 10X

How much you pay or who you buy it from is unrelated to HDMI compatibility with your gear.

Really interested in this tv, looking around the net and local but impossible for me to find one. Can anyone PM me where I can find a new in box krp-500m for under 2k in socal?
A 101fd is available in my area but little more expensive comparing to 500m.

If you can find a 101FD I would jump on it. I bought my 500m from pioneer directly and they told me it was their last one!!!! I almost didn't get one so do yourself a favor. Get the 101FD even at 3k (not actual price just taking a guess) it would be a deal as it is now a game of chance.

Any thoughts on what options/controls you would put in this app? I might be willing to test it on the Sprint Hero if you do. Although I presume I'll have to wait for the Hero to get...is it Eclair (2.1)?

Pick two (if you're lucky) and I want a pony.

Seriously -- if you want a Kuro monitor take the 101FD while you can.

Under 2K? That's a stretch at this point. Craigslist has folks peddling NIB 500Ms for $2500. Not sure what area you're in but that maybe an option.

Speaking of CL, there is a table top stand for a 600M out there. I'm still looking for speakers...

I am going to try the basic remote scheme then when I get that down I would like to have the ability to adjust ISFccc and other functions (maybe the service menu if that is possible with IP commands). Maybe even have the ability to customize your own control scheme.

You're a few months too late for that price

if you're lucky you can find a local dealer with a 500M (use Pioneer's search tool) otherwise you'll have to jump on the few remaining 101FDs. Either way you'll probably pay well over $2k.

Pioneer has referred me to a local authorized service center but they have not yet returned my call. I searched the forum for similar problems but could not find any matches. In addition I have searched the manual. Does this sound like something simple I have unknowing overlooked or does this problem require a service repair?

Had a similar problem with my 600M literally the night after I took delivery. Spoke with Pioneer service center. They indicated that a power problem cause a "short" in the "Y-drive assembly board" and arranged for a technician to replace it.

The service center indicated that this was something they had seen before. Once the board is replaced, they indicated that I shouldn't have this problem again. Am arranging to have a technician come to swap out the board tomorrow. Hopefully this solves the problem.

I'd be happy with just remote function but then again, the actual remote does just fine. I just like playing with Android apps. Plus if it works well I could mess with people when I'm out of the room. :-)

This is going to be over IP? So do you think it would need like a server app running on a PC connected to the network?

So as you can see my panel was a bit skewed originally. Way too much red, but I had adjusted to it. I prefer watching in a semi dark room with bias lighting on.

I'd saved for the calibration but had wavered back and forth after reading some opiinions on post calibration here and the other forum. Having D-Niice do the calibration was a dream, that I chose to wait for. There are many great calibrators out there, but I wanted "The MAN".

The Dark Knight was awesome, Fios is awesome, "Fringe" looked almost 3-D. I can't get over the detail and depth I was missing. I'll view some other Blu Rays. The Super Bowl on Sunday was absolutely flawless. But from the couple hours of viewing so far I am more than pleased with the results. Black levels which were good before and detail our now WOW!!!! I am pleased to not touch a thing as perfection in my eyes view has been achieved. I will be happy with this panel for many years to come.

So if you are on the fence I highly recommend calibrating your Kuro's. I love my results. Thanks again D-Nice, it was well worth the wait.

I don't know anything about Android but Linux certainly doesn't need a proxy to do simple networking. If you're doing that you may as well just use the web interface. Which can also be used to annoy people when you're out of the room.

Yeah I was going to have it send the IP commands over the network. I will try and get my graphic design friend to make it look really good. Also I plan on making it work with Android 2.0 and newer. Might go back to 1.6 to allow the most number of users.

Just got confirmation that my KRP-500m was shipped out by Pioneer.... I cannot wait to get it so that I can break-it in

I received the Ideal Lume Panel light the other day. I quickly set it up and I could see the benefits instantly (better contract, less eye fatigue, deeper black effect, ect). I am having a tough time setting the lights up correctly so the light disbursement is correct. What I understand is the light should be ~10% of the peak white level. That is seems really dim when comparing to the 10% steps on the AVSHD disk (is this the wrong comparison?).

My TV is in a pitch black room and I am wondering with the correct set up of the light if the TV should look pitch black with 0% input.

I don't think so although there is a dedicated pattern with a 10/20 split in the misc section.
