I have a PRO-101FD and am trying to configure the email settings for system notifications. Has anyone successfully configured this with gmail or comcast.net email and if so could you please share your settings?

The first step is testing the connection to port 25 on the mail server. It's not uncommon for an ISP to block port 25 for external addresses and I'm not aware of a way to change the port the Kuro uses. A brief look suggests that Comcast may allow port 25 or they may block it. If the latter is the case there's nothing you can do other than installing a proxy on your local network since the Comcast alternatives require authentication.

If you search for SMTP in the Signature thread you'll find mixed success with the best recomendation that you just connect to the internal http server status page to get the information that would be mailed to you.

I actually got it working. The key was using the IP address of the SMTP and not the DNS alias. Thanks!

When I watch a bluray on my krp through the ps3, my settings stay the same... just how i like them! However, when I'm using the netflix streaming disc on the ps3 (same input) the settings go back to the default. What's going on here? Is the KRP-500m fooled into thinking I'm using a different input?

Nope, the Netflix disc is 720p. Your Kuro has a different setting for each resolution and input.

Have a question about warranty.

I have a shot to buy a 600m. NIB but it is from the original purchaser. He bought it direct from an authorized installer.

Is the warranty on the 500/600m transferrable to subsequent purchasers so long as the original purchase was from an authorized source?
Do you guys think it is worth it to get a MACK warranty for the 500m? Pioneer is obviously out of the TV business so Im not sure if its even beneficial in any way.

I think so. Might want to default to someone with more experience with warranties though.

Any recommendation of ISF Calibration in GTA Ontario, Canada? My 500M is now more than 6months and ready. I live north of Markham (Stouffville)

I think all the calibrators on Turbe's list for Canada do tours to GTA so just pick one that does ISF on a KRP. There's a link in the FAQ.

I am a proud owner of a 500M and I use D Nice's reference settings. They are nice, but I would really like to have some more pop and detail. Pure mode looks kinda muddy to me. I was reading somewhere a few months ago that the user mode is close to isf day as far as brightness. Does anyone have any user modes that look nice, possibly comparable to the isf day/night modes? I would like to use something besides pure mode until I get my monitor patched. Any settings would be greatly appreciated!!!!

You're probably in trouble then. Assuming appropriate use of the D-Nice settings there is no more "detail". You can sacrifice detail to improve apparent contrast if you like.

Although I'm no ISF snob the only mode that's comparable is Pure. If you just want something that has immediate appeal use User Mode and fiddle the picture settings until you get enough "pop".

What's the delay in getting your display patched? It's probably the correct solution.

Pure is definitely an acquired taste. I used to think ISF-Night was dark and muddy, but ever since I moved into a dimmer room, I've come to love ISF-Night even though it's even dimmer than Pure (on my set anyway, ISF-Night contrast set to 18). The reason is that ISF-Night is easier on the eyes but still gives a decent amount of pop and color. It's true that ISF-Day is like a much brighter Pure and looks more "realistic," but in real life, you don't switch camera angles and shots every 3-5 seconds. Watching so many camera changes with a bright scene can put a lot of strain on the eyes, especially in a dark room. ISF-Day is definitely great for rooms with more ambient light.

Many times, I even prefer Pure to ISF-Day.

Just unlock the ISF modes yourself with KuroControl and input the D-Nice reference settings. That should tide you over until you get it calibrated. ISF modes kick butt and will force you to re-evaluate your life. Anyone with a KRP watching in Pure is missing out.

I have a 500m and love it. Just moved into a large house with cathedral ceilings and need a bigger screen>.. Should I be looking for a 6020 or 600m? It would be cool if someone local was looking to trade!

I actually prefer Pure over ISF on my calibrated set. ISF seems flat and pushed in an odd way. Can't describe it but after going back and forth many times, I have settled on Pure mode at contrast 40.

Are you coming from an LCD?

Who calibrated your panel?

So how does one unlock the ISF modes with KURO control? I thought that these modes had to be installed with the patch? Thanks.

As noted in the FAQ all is revealed in the the KuroControl thread.

I have a 6020 for sale in the classifieds but I am not sure where you are located. I am in Fort Worth, Texas.

Funny I went back and forth many times (to my wife's great annoyance) and prefer ISF over Pure, specifically ISF Night since it's easier on the eyes sitting 5-6 feet away. D-Nice's settings make it a great movie mode. Very cinematic. Accurate but not overblown or bright, just like a theater. I only switch to Day when there's a lot of light in the room.

It's easy. The ISF modes are hidden in the KRPs just like the Elites, but the feature was never advertised. The patch is one method; the DIY method with KuroControl is another. Check the thread bodosom referenced, get a laptop & crossover cable and go to it. It takes some time but is really worth it.

Wow! And I thought that getting the patch was a little risky/tricky. So it appears that the patch is just another (easier, but more costly?) way of doing the same thing, right? And is it true that the ISF "night" mode is dimmer that Pure? I don't see how that's better. I'm considering getting the patch, but now I'm not so sure.

No and no. For general questions I refer you to the FAQ. For KuroControl questions I suggest that thread. In so far as there are answers they're all in that thread.

I started reading the Kruo thread but after a few steps into I decided that it wasn't something I wanted to attempt. And, how does one navigate to the FAQ? Thanks!

The KuroControl thread is a bit messy and confusing, but there's nothing risky about it. I think the risk off messing something up is close to zero. It does take a bit of computer knowledge to get the Kuro talking to the computer through IP control, but after that it's pretty easy.

Ok, thanks! And sorry, bodosom, I missed the FAQ link. DUH! I'll go read it now. BTW, do most agree that the ISF Day and Night modes, especially Night, are better than Pure? I "gotts ta know!" Thanks again!

ISF Day and Night Modes are identical templates where you adjust values. The mode names have no particular significance, other than that calibrators usually create a brighter picture in ISF Day than they do ISF Night.

That said, I think it's pretty safe to say that most prefer the ISF modes to Pure.

I prefer the ISF modes to pure, I stick mostly with ISF night, sometimes use ISF day.

Jonseyid you get the ISF modes with the patch and what model plasma do you have? Also, if you got the patch, did you have any problems uploading it into your TV? Thanks!
