Was the source code for that ever released? If so, someone feeling adventurous could probably make something, although if you have an intel mac, you could probably calibrate it by using boot camp and installing windows or else using something like parallels or vmware fusion. You don't have to activate windows for 14 days or so if I recall correctly, so you could install windows and the calibration software to do the calibration within that time period and then wipe it if no mac calibration version becomes available (and you don't want to give the Emperor your money).

I've got a question. I changed the side bars on 4:3 480p content to gray. Now I can't remember how to change them back to black. Help!

At the moment I'm drawing a blank if there's a way other than via the Factory Menu to change the side mask. I don't recall if the ControlCal add-on works with the monitors. Certainly the SML command doesn't work.

Late audio question here...has anyone tried using Definitive Tech. Mythos Gems or Gem XL's hooked up directly to your KRP? I've been looking at these but wondering if it would be overkill for the asking price.

Well, I have XLs but I've never used them on my KRP. The Gems or the ProMonitor 1000/800s should both sound fine since they're considerably more efficient than the S04s. Note that the Gems have narrow-bipolar+direct configuration. I don't know what the asking price is so I can't comment but if they're not new from an authorized dealer then the maximum price should be less than the DT Ebay outlet.

The finish is a nice complement to the bezel. The only thing is they're short.

I have a pair of Def Tech Pro 800s connected directly to my KRP 600's speaker outputs and they sound great for "everyday" viewing. I even added a small sub to give the bottom end a little more "ooomph" but it's really not necessary. BTW, does anyone know how to get ahold of D-Nice? I'm interested in him doing a calibration. Coud any one tell me if the PDP-S50 speakers will fit on the KRP500M?, i am looking for speakers for the KRP, but the KRP-S04 are not available in the US, not even on ebay-US.
Any help would be much appreciated.

I've also been trying to reach D-Nice for the past few weeks as we have a scheduled calibration next however he is unresponsive to any emails. When he does respond it is usually many days later. I know he has been highly recommended and is probably busy but this is unacceptable for doing business.


If not a slight mishap, hope he is doing well otherwise.

I remember reading that someone modified the Elite 111fd speakers to fit the 500m. Not sure about the s50 though. Maybe if they're the same size.

Yes. That is the email used for our correspondance.

I'm not exactly sure who you are, however all emails going to that address are answered within 48 hours. When was the last time you sent an email to that address?

I'm sure they can be made to fit but:
1) The brackets are different. They might work or might not.
2) The speakers are not quite the same height so the S50 won't match the bezel.
3) The S50 is a fair bit deeper which means either protruding in the front or a fabricated bracket if you want to mount them on the panel with the front flush with the bezel.

Does a Toronto Calibration ring a bell for this week? I've replied to your email 2-3times with no response. Don't matter at this point. Thanks anyways.

I'm stoked. I am no longer interested in 3D . Just want another one of these babies in my hands. I think I can officially say I will be getting the last one shipped to me new in the box?

Maybe. Anyway I will be running break in slides when it comes in. D-nice will think I'm crazy but hell.....at least he will get another Calibration job out of it. TV is due in may 18th week of....will be posting pics and an unboxing ....one last hoorah!!!

Ok, it's about five am and I wake up smelling something funny like like burnt fuse. At first I think it's my cable box, then my surround sound. It's neither of those. It turns out to be a nightmare, it's my 500M. It's making a loud high pitched ring/buzzing noise. The picture still works and looks fine, but the noise is almost unbearable and I don't my display to go up in flames. I'm hoping it's something small like a fan because I really love my monitor. If anyone can help me out to what's going on or can lead me in the right direction it will be greatly appreciated. I really don't want to buy a new display, this is the best I have ever had and saw.

OK so a few hours later I turn the display on and the noise is still there, but the display shuts off. Now I get two flashing red lights. Anyone knows what this means?

I just did some research on the net and found out I need a new power supply board. Does anyone know where I can get one and is there a DIY I could look for to do it myself?

More than the random websites selling PDF downloads of service manuals? I'm sure those are all authorized by the company

The truth is that companies generally could care less about their manuals/sm's on discontinued products. It's not something they'll ever make huge profits off of considering most people won't even bother repairing something out of warranty in the first place. I suppose he could also contact Pioneer directly though and see if they'll send him one. Or I guess he could buy it from one of those shady websites.

Some are. But the point is a "free" manual that's not authorized by Pioneer is theft*.


He can buy it from Pioneer or find someone that's authorized to sell a PDF version. My PDF is a production source (includes registration marks). The company says they're authorized to sell it and I have no reason to believe they're not.
