I can't recall which code worked, but my 500m remote is programmed for my FIOS Motorola QIP 7232. There's no on/off, but you can use Menu/Home to wake it up, or possibly use the complicated Learn mode to create an on/off button. My preference is the 4 device FIOS remote: https://teleproducts.verizon.com/fios/index.cfm/eh/DisplayDetails which you also might find on ebay, or possibly get as a free swap from a Verizon store. It can be programmed with one button on/off for multiple devices.

Edited to include location: DC Metro area.

Wow smile.gif

Incredible this is - 50hrs - just two months ago i picked up (well actually had transported) a UK 500M from London to Scotland with only 24hrs on her... 478hrs and counting... It's showroom condition amd the remote and manual were never used, also came with it's original packaging like new. I probably paid in your currency something in the region of 4,500 $. That wasn't including the stand, speakers, KRPM speaker cable connectors and of course fragile goods couriers. But having had a KRP 500A before it it was/IS worth every penny. The best 50"1080P flat panel ever built - and not by a small margin -. But it still has until the end of next April warranty, so that made the decision somewhat simpler. Difficult to explain, but i had never been so pleased to see temporary IR in my life before when i got this one off display home eventually. Running it in has been a joy tbh, watching the changes over the first few hundred hours. Tried D-NICE's 500M settings and they are so beautiful. It's such a weird feeling having such a new Kuro considering they are five years released - but it's one special display.

Who's the lucky guy then lol ?

Hey Folks - so back circa 2009/10, I snagged a brand new 500m. It then sat sealed in box in my basement on a pallet...until last week, when I finally finished my basement rec room/home theater! So now I have this minty fresh Kuro 500m mounted on my wall.

I am coming up on the end of the 150 hour break in period. I am wondering if the ISF mode patch is still available...anybody have any information on this? I am still digging around, but most of the posts on it are from 2009.

Wish me luck!

Please review the KRP FAQ.

Enabling the ISFccc modes is for calibration. If you have a plasma friendly *photometer then this will be directly useful to you but calibrating an elite panel is a bit tricky. It's probably more common for professional to enable the controls. Turbe maintains a list of calibrators that are authorized to use his software.

Hello: KRP600M owner here. I may have to move my display for a couple of days to accomodate a remodeling project. How long can I leave it unplugged without the risk of losing all my settings. My set is ISF-calibrated, including the patch. Would it be better (safer) to keep it plugged in? Thanks!
you should be fine in storage without losing settings, some of left it unplugged for several weeks

You shouldn't have any problem for a few days, probably not even for months or years, however for various reasons you might want to save your settings off to a computer. See the FAQ or look back a few posts to one from jdbimmer.

I am having a possible issue with 500M I believe.  Recently with we turn on the TV (fios) the whole screen is blocky (maybe pixilated) larger blocks then micro blocking and usually changing the input back and forth fixes it.  Lately I have been having no picture at all not even the user menu.  Everything goes through input 5.  I  going  switch to input 6 and see  the problem goes away.  Does anyone have a part number for the board that the home connectors are on?

Equipment
TV (connected to)
Onkyo 606 (connected to)
Logitech revue (connected to)
Fios cable box

I also plan to first turn on to the ps3 or xbox to rule the TV/Logitech connection.   Also I think it is the TV because if it was the other devices I would at least get  grey screen and the info display in the top left of the screen.

Thoughts?

Is there by chance a way to check the number of hours on a 600M without having to use controlcal?

You don't need ControlCal to check the hours on the monitor Kuros, just connect it via ethernet to your router and access the proper IP address to check the stats:

If you have it networked use the internal web server. You also check via the serial interface or by using the "Factory Mode" code via a remote control or direct command. By the way, the essentially complete and well documented control over an Elite display is one of the reasons they're worth owning.

Per the FAQ:

a. The web interface has some utility but for day to day operations your remote is superior. You cannot use the standard remote to check hours (see Service Remote below). Something everyone (impatiently waiting for their panel aging/break-in to finish) wants to do.

Q. How can I check my usage time (hours on), power count, serial number or retrieve the SD/PD Failure code?
a. You have to configure your KRP for network access, attach it to a network or directly to a PC and then open this link: http:///cgi/service_right.cgi where is replaced with the IP address of your KRP -- EZ Hours. You can also check the hours with jdbimmer's KuroReader program (see below) and via the serial port with Chelsea_Fan's piotime.

Thanks so much guys for the info. It worked perfectly.

BTW, I've been considering parting with my 600M, but to help recover as much as I can for the next TV I was going to sell my stand and side speakers separate. I have some data for the going prices of the TVs, but just curious what people might think may be reasonable for these other parts? Since these usually dont come up on the used market at all lately it's hard to get a feel and I don't want to commit to selling everything if I don't have a good idea of what to expect. The stand was a 6020 modified to fit the 600 per some posts back in the original owners thread, but there is no way to know that unless it was taken apart completely. The speakers are the same ones as what comes with the 141/151 units.

Nice to see thread still alive on this terrific plasma.

I have a 500M and plan on moving back to the UK in a couple of years. IF it is still alive will I be able to use it there as it is or will I need to modify something?

I emailed Pioneer but their response was very unclear, so I turn to the wisdom of the forum biggrin.gif

Thanks.

Just need to replace the power lead with a UK power cable/three pin wall plug. Apart from that - universal

Getting it safely there will be the biggest problem.

So no issue with the different Hz aspects (50 versus 60)?

I actually kept the box it shipped in so if that is still in good condition I do at least have a small chance. I'll insure it of course (not sure how that will play out value wise - irreplaceable is not on the form I expect wink.gif )

Thanks for the quick responses, that's one less thing for me to be concerned about.

The KRP'S are universal - a big clue to this is the voltage on the front of the box, and the back panel which is 110V (US) to 220V (rest) And 50/60 HZ 386W. The KRP'S share the same service manual as the 141 and 101FD also.

With you're box have it padded out well - when i transported my new 500M nearly 500 miles in July there the seller wrapped three layers of thick big bubble wrap around the panel/bezel all around the display.

I would do that but also fill the box up with old scrunched up newspaper and fill with polyethylene chippings. The more padded and secured the better for an even longer journey.

Thanks Stu.

We are still 18 months from moving but now that a plan is being developed I want to cross as many things off my list as possible.

Found out my Triumph Explorer motorbike is switchable between right and left hand drive so no worries there rolleyes.gifrolleyes.gifbiggrin.gif

500M calibration again?

3 years ago I bought the 500M and ran the D-Nice slides for 150 hours then I had it pro calibrated with the patch. After 3 years, would it be worth it to have it calibrated again and if so, how would I contact D-Nice to do so?? I live in upstate NY

He doesn't have enough people in Seattle wanting a calibration.

C'mon Seattle people, send him an email! smile.gif
post #6774 of 6954
He also doesn't have enough people to come to Boston.

Come on, Boston -- book a calibration with D-Nice! smile.gif

It would depend on:
  1. condition
  2. hours
  3. buyer desire i.e. it's worth what someone will pay for it.

These panels are special so one in excellent to pristine condition might not follow typical depreciation. However I wouldn't buy one without a very careful examination (ideally by D-Nice). There are also the shipping problems. Lots of these were damaged in shipping so the value is also dependent on insurability.

You can see what other people are asking for similar TVs here in the Classified forum, Ebay, and Craigslist. This won't tell you what they are actually selling for, but you can get an idea of its actual value by looking at Ebay's completed listings.

You probably won't be able to find a 600M ad anywhere, so will have to extrapolate from similar models.

Also, I think you are insane for selling it. If I were in the area, I would buy it myself and then I would slap you. smile.gif

I'd do worse than that if it's being sold to get a bigger plasma. eek.gif
