Gigabyte GA-E7AUM-DS2H with *Ubuntu* (Linux only thread)

Hello

Since I did not find any thread on this website for discussing building an HTPC with Ubuntu on Gigabyte GA-E7AUM-DS2H (NVIDIA 9400 mATX HDMI 8 channel LPCM). I intend to start one.

In fact I want to build my HTPC using this mobo, and ubuntu. I wish it would play 5.1 *DISCRETE* channel of sound via DD @640kbps and DTS @1.5mbps - constant bitrate, with following equipment:

1. mobo: GA-E7AUM-DS2H
2. speaker/decoder: logitech Z-5500 speaker system
3. regular linux media player apps.
4. myth-tv (mythbuntu)

As a low-cost/good-quality speaker set, I do want to use logitech Z-5500 speaker system which have DD and DTS h/w decoder built in (but I am not sure whether they decode @ full rate? I have sent email to logitech)

Has anyone done it before? is anybody trying it?

Please share your views.

thank you.

You must have searched the wrong forum... this one.

Search the HTPC - Linux Chat sub-forum. There are numerous threads there that refer to your motherboard.
