Sony Kdl32l5000 Help

Hi I was wondering if anyone else has this sony model or any other sony tv, and has had this problem. I have tried 3 of this same tv, and everytime I get it, the tv will flicker sometime when I turn the channel. I have noticed it the most when I go from a sd channel to a hd channel. It will keep doing it until I change back to sd then back to hd. Sony tech support told me it is a internal malfunction, but have never had this problem before, but like I said this is the third one. If anyone can help me I appreciate it. Thanks

Are you using the internal tuner on the set or an external STB?

It is hooked up with a time warner cable hd dvr box

It certainlty sounds like it is the cable box that is flickering and not the TV.
I don't think the Sony support was correct in assuming that it was a Sony TV problem.
What resolutiion(s) are you using to send SD(4:3 aspect ratio) and HD(16:9 aspect ratio) programs to your TV over what interface?

If you are using Sat or Cable it is the STB not your TV. If you are using the internal tuner than it is the internal video scalar loosing clock or the look up table

it is going from sd at 480p to hd at 720p. I would not be surprised if it is the cable box, we have had nothing but problems with time warner hd since we upgraded to it, because we have been having a lot of pixelating and fuzzy picture as well, so you think the box is causing it? Because it has done it with more then one cable box.

I meant is he using HDMI to connect the STB to the set. If so, try component connections.

Sorry about not being more clear in that post. I was mobile at the time and being brief.

I already tried hdmi and component cable both, and component cables just make the picture worse

The tv may just need a second or two to resynch to the change in stb output resolution from sd to hd and viceversa.

Are you saying that the tv continues to flicker after a channel change, or just during an SD/HD channel change?

Does the problem occur when going from either an analog SD channel or from a digital SD channel to an HD channel? What resolution do you use to send SD channel content to your TV.

I have had similar problems with an older Sony model whenever I switch around resolutions on my gaming consoles through component and HDMI connections.

Are there any options on the cable box to force every channel to use one output resolution? Maybe doing that will keep the cable box from making the TV flicker.
