Sonic Solutions, which has launched an aggressive set of partnerships over the last six months to make its Roxio CinemaNow service available on the TV through as many set-top devices as possible, became the latest entertainment company to announce plans for a Yahoo! TV Widget, bringing its service directly to select TVs.

Sonic will introduce a Roxio CinemaNow Widget this fall so consumers with Internet-connected TVs running Yahoo! TV Widgets can search, rent and buy movies for viewing on their TVs.

Yahoo! TV Widgets operate on TVs from Samsung, Sony, LG and Vizio, allowing consumers to access Internet sites and services directly through their TV. Netflix, Blockbuster On Demand, CBS Entertainment, Showtime, Twitter, Facebook and Ebay already have announced plans for their own Yahoo! TV Widgets.

With the addition of Yahoo! TV Widgets, Roxio CinemaNow will be available this fall through PCs, TVs, TiVo digital video recorders, Blu-ray Disc players, the Nintendo Wii (in Japan) in addition to mobile media players. CinemaNow also has partnered on digital movie delivery services with Blockbuster and Best Buy.
