Is this equipment any good? Please help a newbie.

My uncle updated his system so he donated his old equipment to me.

Here is the list:

1 - Sony Receiver - STR-DE925
1 - Canton SubWoofer - AS-22
2 - Canton Fonissimo - Rear
2 - Canton Plus x - Front
1 - Canton center speaker not sure which model

I have no idea what I am doing. Is this good equipment?

I know the receiver does not have any HDMI input/output will this affect anything? Can I still get HD sound?

Should I update anything? This will be hooked up to a Samsung LN52B750.

given the price (free), there's certainly nothing wrong with it...

no, you can't use the hd audio codecs with it... looks like it will decode dts and dd though, so that's not the end of the world...

set it up and try it...
