Although the anatomical correctness of Dr.Manhattan's reproductive organ was startling, I wasn't offended by it. In fact, given that the organ in question belonged to a guy who was blue and glowed in the dark, I thought it was kind of funny.

Some say a schlong
that long
doesn't belong
in view

It must be wrong
for a schlong
that long
even though it's blue
to be in view

So when watching
something so fetching
or maybe so retching
and in such bad taste

Remember the ways
of yesterday's phase
and keep your gaze
above the waist

I watched the BD Director's Cut, then read the book/graphic novel. I liked the movie's ending better, but was impressed with its fidelity to the novel. It's a visually stunning film, as well as one that makes you think.

Last night I watched the BD of The Black Freighter, which also featured a 35-minute movie of Under the Hood. After watching Under the Hood, I realized how silly the whole WATCHMEN thing is. It would be interesting to see how they integrate The Black Freighter into the WATCHMEN movie - Will it follow the panels in the book, or vary somewhat? How will they tie it in with the main story? Hopefully Netflix will at some point stock the Ultimate Cut; I don't have enough interest to buy the set.

The Black Freighter BD also had chapter 1 of The Complete Motion Comic. What I watched, while following along in the book, was very well done. If you're a fan of reading the book, I recommend getting the Complete Motion Comic BD (325 minutes, I think) - which will come with the Ultimate Cut, too.

This was my first BD watched with my system set up to listen lossless. I thought the soundtrack was phenomenal. Absolutely phenomenal.

The movie, not so much. At 3 hours it was boring - with a very "flat" story line. I didn't find it hard to follow at all, just kind of predictable.

I had a question and didn't see any other place to ask this.

Zack Snyder did a bd-live text commentary shortly after this came out, the only other one I can think of off the top of my head who did this was Chris Nolan for The Dark Knight. Anyway, is there anyway to see that not live? Are those commentary's a one time thing and basically can never be seen again? I tried looking through the bd-live thing on the blu-ray but didn't see anything on how to get that.

Thanks

I wanted to pick up The Ultimate Cut on Blu-ray but apparently it's been out of print for a few months. I really hope WB re-releases it soon...

Hopefully somebody archived that.

Guess you are right...as it's been selling on Ebay for between $75.00 - $100.00! I should have bought three! The UC is worth the original price, for both the extra footage, the commentary, the packaging, and the slightly-improved PQ alone. Sadly, a re-release is probably unlikely.

I bought the director's cut when it came out due solely to Ralph's review of the AV. I didn't know anything about the story, characters, etc. I have to say that the movie is, in my opinion, exceptional. Full of "heroes" that are anything but, and an ending that doesn't cater to the hollywood feel good formula. This movie doesn't fall into the usual "comic book" movie genre, but if that's how the masses see it, then i think it's one of the best ever made (alongside Dark Night of course.) I still watch this movie once every couple of months.

Hopefully, you'll get to see the UC at some point, to enjoy an added dimension to the film. The UC version is one of my favorite films of 2009. (But the love scene still is a detriment.)

I'm currently reading the graphic novel for the first time and it's making me appreciate the movie even more. I've found it interesting how they've adapted some of the material to screen. I can't wait to watch this one again once I finish reading.

For those who've wanted it (without paying exorbitant Ebay prices) the Ultimate Cut edition of WATCHMEN is being re-released. I personally thought the transfer was a bit better than the DC. All extras from the earlier version will be included, as well as a copy of the graphic novel.

I love this movie, the scene, the background music, the sound! A bit too long.
