I have 2 high def plasma TVs each with an Explorer 8300HD DVR box connected. On Saturday morning, I found that I had no picture on the upstairs TV. Then found no picture on the downstairs TV. The boxes were both connected to HDMI1 on each TV (models are identical).
Comcast technicians came and replaced both DVR boxes saying there was no HDMI output on either (component output OK). In my research, I'm learning a lot about HDMI and how complex it is. I'm having a hard time believing that the cable isn't somehow responsible. I spoke with a Comcast rep who mentioned a power surge. I don't think a power surge would act this way.
I understand how bizarre this sounds, 2 independent boxes and TVs. But something happened to the HDMI ports on both at the same time. Additionally the HDMI inputs of both TVs do not work. If anyone has any ideas, it would be greatly appreciated. Thank you.
