^^Lol, one of my favorites on SNL for sure! On a side note.. any of you guys with a speakerpower amp have a slight hum coming from the amp itself? I turned off the S2, disconnected both the power and XLR cable... connected to power cable back up and turned on.. hum is still there. It doesn't seem to really come from the drivers (the hum) like a typical ground loop issue.. It seems like it's coming from the amp itself. Not really noticable while I'm watching anything.. or even when the rooms quiet for that matter. The reason I'm asking is because my "clip" / limiter light flashes on movies with heavy bass content (not just ULF) right around -5 to -7 on the MV. Unfortunately, I'm ordering a mic and SPL meter this week so I can't help diagnose the problem further as of this moment... Everything is calibrated thru MCACC and the sub is running flat with the mains (don't know for sure w/o spl meter
) Gain is about -16ish on the S2 and came in at a trim of -5.5 on my AVR (Pio SC-35). On another side note.. initial run on calibration was too low for the sub channel.. when I adjusted the gain knob it was very difficult to do so and didn't make the audible "click noise" the further up, or closer to 0 i got. It did however make the "click" noise from "infinity" to about -20 and was very easy to rotate.. then was hard to rotate from there to where I'm at now (~ -16) The reason I'm asking these questions is that I'm trying to rule out the idea of the amp being the problem. Chances are it's something in the set up thats causing the S2 to pump the brakes early IMO.. or maybe thats all this beast will put out
I just find it hard to believe being this is in a 840cf sealed room!! As you can imagine.. the sound is intense but if she's got more to give.. I want it! Not to mention, I know it's not good for the amp to have the limiter always kickin in. Any thoughts or ideas? Oh, yea this is also on a shared 20 amp circuit. I have the S2, AVR connected to 5 JTR single 8's, lcd tv, and bd player. All but the S2 goes through a panamax 4300. The S2 got its own outlet but on the same circuit. Sorry for the long post, trying to give as much info as I can..
