LOL ya no kidding! hopefully you can get that sorted out quickly. Just swapping out the amp is a super easy job at least!
Yea the amp swap is not big deal. I just have to go through all the shipping crap now and trying to get ahold of Jeff again. On the positive side, I thought the sub was a beast at half power. Now it is really going to rock with the correct amp!

Sure. Here ya go.
Yea, Jeff's is so swamp with orders he probably mistakenly put the 2400 in yours. I'm sure he'll have it sort out. Give him a call and leave a message. I know he takes care of he's previous customers asap if there's a problem.
I know he will. I sent him an email already. My wife was actually mad surprisingly. I told her the exact same thing that you posted.

That's the amp for the S1 and Cap 2400. The OS and S2 use the 4000. The DSP program will be different too.
Easy swap out. I had to replace one. Just take the new one out and put the old one back in the same box.
It took 2 days to get it UPS.

How different is the dsp program? I hope I get in touch with him and shipped ASAP for tuning before this coming weekend. Does he require the other amp back first before shipping?

My sub was delivered late August 2013.

The Speakpower amps are great! Last year the Sp1-2400 could be had for $1200.......a recent call to Speakerpower..........well those same amps are $2500 without DSP! Guess they don't want to deal with DIY crowd or protect their speaker manufacturing customers! Planned all along to use these plate amps in my upcoming project.....guess not.

The DSP is tailored to each individual subwoofer model in the amp. So when he sends you the correct amp for the S2 it will be ready. The box the new one comes in is the box you will use to return the one you have. If its sent out priority by Wednesday you should have it on Friday.

I felt like something was up with the dsp also because some fq's just didn't sound right. Also anything around 25hz and below sounded really bad. I could hear the driver motor more than anything which still has me boggled??

Don't disregard your room or Audyssey XT32........

For some reason in my room, XT32 would truncate anything below 30hz on S2.....

Remedy, disengage XT32 .......almost 120db's at 15 hz when roll off started.......big difference! My first inclination was I needed much more drivers in system!

The S2 is great, but 4400 cubes in dampen, soundproofed room is too much for a single S2 IMHO.

I can and will offer the amplifiers for interested DIYers. There will probably be some dealers in the future for pro-audio side of things, but Brian and I will be looking at first making the package a bit more DIY friendly, and later hopefully add some worthwhile features for a small premium. For now I would recommend pairing these with any of the MiniDSP units giving plenty of control and flexibility.

The reason was simple. Direct purchases made for tons of questions and less than a handful of sales. SpeakerPower doesn't keep up with the current trends and interests of the DIY market, and the OEM side and new product work needs more time and attention. If interested, e-mail me/us at our sales e-mail.

That's a quote from Mark Seaton for anyone who is interested in purchasing a Speakerpower Amp. The prices were going up after the First of January anyway. smile.gif

This Friday I got the last set of my JTR order:

Surround - T8HT-LP - the design of the 8-lps is so clean, amazing!
Back - Slanted 8s
2x Captivator S1

in addition to what I got in the fall last year:

LR - Noesis 212HT
C - Noesis 228HT

I'm extremely impressed with the speakers, I've had the 212s for almost 6 months now and I'm very happy with my choice (originally I wanted to get Klipsch RF7-II or THX Ultra 2) - thanks everyone on this thread for all the discussions and obviously to Jeff for making great speakers! :-)

Now I have a couple of questions - when I run Audyssey (Denon 4520) it puts three speakers (FL, SL, SR) at -12 dB. Particularly the surround ones are too loud compared to the rest. I've read about using the attenuators, but that doesn't apply if I drive the speakers by the AVR, correct? How can I fix this?

Second, the dual S1s replaced a single Epik Phoenix (ported 18") and while I'm very happy with the performance in music, I'm a bit underwhelmed with movies. I've used Audyssey and run them 3 - 6 dB hot. A good example is Under Attack scene in Master & Commander - with the Epik I was literally afraid to hear the next cannon shot ;-) but with the S1s the effect is much less impressive. I haven't done any measurements yet (I currently only have RS SPL meter and REW), but is there something obvious I can be missing?

I've got everything dialed in on the 228HT system with the new Onkyo PR-SC5508 and Sherbourn 7-350 amp and while I'm not sure I can tell a difference from my former Onkyo TX-NR1007 AVR --- I can tell you this JTR speaker system is just SWEET! AVSforum member dmark01 introduced me to a track called Giorgio by Moroder by Daft Punk on his Legacy Whispers. I really liked the track. Check it out. I'm listening to it right now and love it. I also have been enjoying the Usher track Popalock introduced me to called Climax. Both sound superb on my setup!

I had a couple of guests over yesterday (a couple of craigslist/classified buyers), a guy, JD, was wanting to hear my Onkyo 1007 AVR before purchase and in the first couple minutes of listening he said - how much will you sell me this whole system for? I want this - as he gestured towards my front JTR soundstage! The other guy, Drew said, I've never heard JTR Speakers before but these are REALLY impressive!

It's not my room because I have had other subs in there before.

It could be XT32, but it is the wrong amp so I am not going to mess with it any more. Matter of fact, I wasted my entire weekend jacking with this. Since I was hearing the driver motors and not really a tone at 25hz, do you think that my drivers are messed up some how?

If you disengage XT32, what do you do about room correction?

An amp clipping hard can sound like driver motor noise. I don't think you could hurt those drivers with 2400 watts for two drivers. I wouldn't worry about it - except to get it made right by Jeff.

Thanks for the piece of mind Archaea. I don't think it was clipping at 25hz but I never looked at the clip lights at that point. That does make sense though.

I had more charts but I guess that I didn't save them. Here is the ULF clipping like crazy. It might be my sound card, but no matter what I did with the mini dsp, I could not get the ULF to go away unless I changed the HPF to 30hz. This is one of my first sweeps before I changed the settings. I wish I still had the other charts!

I think this measurement was taken at the sub. I had huge dips at certain fq's at the mlp.

Carp,

I still have the seats setup as you arranged them. There is a sweet spot, and JD, the guy who said he wanted this and pointed to my front soundstage was in it. That picture was a few months old. Everything is setup same way in the pic - except that the seats are slid 1/2 chair to the left (like you forced me to do).
Carp, when I vIsited Archaea he said the lack of a sweet spot drive you crazy.
LOL, I always sit in the middle of my coutch and it drives my old lady nuts. I HAVE to sit right in the middle. In fact, when I run audyssey, I leave the mic in the middle pos the entire time because screw everyone else! hahaha
