How about if CHT built a speaker that cost $1100, Oh wait, they are closing too. Well, you get the point, $2300 from an ID company should or better get you great results and I would expect no less from Jeff. See guys, you are proving my upgrade madness to be correct. There will always be better but the money goes up. When Jeff comes out with his new $3000 speaker it will be the new best. IT will never end but I really believe that is part of the fun. To me the $500 speaker besting the $1000 speaker(no particular brand) is more impressive than an expensive speaker besting others, because it should. Now the Noesis besting $5000 speakers will be great and it will because there are lots of crappy expensive stuff out there. I won't mention brands because it insults owners. I guess to each their own. THere are guys who think Danley is the best, others who think their JBL sound better than Danleys, JTR's being the best, etc... THis is why we have choices, thank goodness for choices. I will probably audition the noesis some time early next year.
All true but ... it's only $2,199 plus shipping (J/K
There is a difference in component quality and that does translate into performance differences. How great the differences are is subjective and that is why you will have the variance in opinions and value judgements.
Of course Jeff is a one man operation and that keeps his overhead very low (i.e. his move to Wisconsin) and, allows him to keep his prices down. Considering what the CD alone costs him, the Noesis are an amazing value. You could not DIY this with the same quality of components (remember the custom hand built crossover) for much less. The point is Jeff is in business to make money but I do not know of an audio company that offers this level of quality and performance for the money.
I thought I was finished upgrading with the last Triple 12's I purchased. I know that never say never in this hobby is a truism for me, but the law of diminishing returns also comes into play. i'm at a new level of happy with my systems performance and I know what a bargain these speakers are relative to the rest of the industry and the actual cost of components and labor. That makes the investment a solid one for me. of course YMMV ...
