In case anyone is wondering, those are 2011 Triple 12HT-LP's in the L, C, R, Wides and Surround locations. I have some close-up pictures of the T12 drivers if anyone is interested in seeing them. Perhaps they have been posted here before already.

I have to start thinking of getting everything together.

The Slanted 8's have 4 "keyhole" slots on the back to facilitate mounting. While not pretty, my DIY height channel brackets for the Slanted 8's can be made to look better. For me, they disappear in my "batcave". I hung the rear surround Slanted 8's directly on the wall.

I hope this helps.

They ^^ look good Carp, with a 40lb weight limit they would only work for S8's. Is it easy to separate the wall/ceiling mounting plate from the speaker part of the bracket?

Thanks RMK. That 40 lbs. is very conservative. I have my rear surround eD's mounted in such a way that it puts a ton of force on the bracket since the speaker is leaning out so far from the wall. Here is a closer up shot, the bracket is way at the bottom (well actually top, I turned my 4 surround speakers upside down) of the speaker.

I feel like I could put a LOT more weight on these brackets.

Yeah, it's pretty easy. I just have to use an allen wrench to unscrew one bolt and I can take the bracket with the speaker off.

Your Batcave is "No Holds Barred".
7 T12's and 4 Slanted 8's is my dream.
Simply Badass !!!
Chris
Don't you have 4 SubM HP's too?

Thanks for the complement Chris! I do have four Seaton SubMersive HP's, but would not mind a couple of Danley tapped horns some day! Maybe some SubMersive XL's will have to do. eek.gif

The system audio calibration (Audyssey MultEQ XT32 Pro) was performed by Mark Seaton, since he is local to me, so I know I am wringing out the most performance I can out of the JTR's and the Seaton's. He was there for 12 hours!

I just noticed in the long shot from the back of the room the screen looks small, but it is 110" 1.78 (54" x 96").

Carp, thanks, I may just get them. Do the brackets fit the Slanted 8s nicely (I mean the screws), or would I need to modify them a bit?

Mark, WoW.. *speechless* your batcave is definitely something to imitate!

i was on the path of possibly getting some noesis, but got a good deal on a few yorkville u215b's, will get to a/b my quintuples vs u215bs next week when they get here, my back will be pretty sore after i'm done, but it'll be interesting to see they in the same room together.

Coolgeek, I swear I replied already but oh well.

I drilled 3 holes into the back of my eD speakers, being careful not to go all the way through the 3/4 mdf. If you aren't interested in screwing holes in your speakers, which is perfectly understandable, I'm not sure how the Axiom brackets will work but I've never seen the Slanted 8's so I don't know what is on the back of them.

You end up getting Carl's pair or something a bit closer? smile.gif

That would be Carl's pair, found him on ebay, shipping across the country, but still a fine price.

I'm listening to music right now. It's lost it's sparkle and massive soundstage... I still like it but I'm not feeling addicted to it and it's a big step down. I never would have described the sound before as thin, but that's what I'm hearing.

Oh, BTW, Archaea has the Noesis again so I'm back to the eD's. I still think the eD's are great for the money and I don't regret buying them, but I'm going to be going nuts waiting on my new speakers to get here.

I don't regret for a second spending that much on speakers, I'm going to be listening to them for many years to come. Or at least until Dec. 21'st (or was it the 20th, can't remember.)

What happened to my midbass?!?!?!

Well, I'm back to running the subs hot. I was listening to music with flat bass for the past week or so with the Noesis and it sounded so good... no more of that!!

Congrats! I had been eyeing those for a few days...I have a pair of U15's and need a center, but am considering bumping up to the U215's for L/R and running one of the U15's for C.

I would love to have a trifecta of Noesis for LCR, but would have an awfully tough time letting go of the $6600 required to do so. smile.gif

You guys might like this -- http://forums.prosoundweb.com/index.php/topic,140751.0.html

Scroll down towards the bottom for Steve's (the guy that organized the shootout) assessment.

Noesis did mighty fine. smile.gif They were the pro sound versions -- 3TX is similar to the 212HT -- it has (2) 10's, is tuned alot higher, and weighs a whopping 76 lbs. less!

As i think Geo said, the Slanted 8's come with 4 keyhole mounts on the back of each speaker. I ended up drilling holes in the top of my height pair (like you not all the way through) to accommodate the swivel ceiling mount I used there. My surround back S8's are wall mounted using the keyhole mounts and they are essentially flush to the wall.

Jeff said shipping the middle of next week for mine. I'd guess that means a few others as well.

Yeah, sounds about right. He told me I'd have mine for sure by the weekend after this coming one.

Its a great room and great screen. It just looks a little small because you have enough sound for a full IMAX theater. Cool set up. I agree, tapped horns, Terraforms or a couple of OS's would be a good addition to the SubM's. Awesome set up

I'd be interested in how these compare. Post some thought when your done, if you will.

Ok, didn't realize how big these speakers were. Met up with an AVS member to pick up a triple 8 and two triple 12s for my front three channels. The triple 8 I was able to muscle into the basement last night but the triple 12s are way too much for this old fart to handle by myself. Better recruit a buddy to come over tonight and help carry them into the basement. S2 should be here early next week...better bribe the delivry guy to help me get it into the basement. eek.gifsmile.gif

A handtruck is a must when moving around equipment of this size. biggrin.gif
post #5721 of 8265
LOL!!!

I just muscled my triple 8 up from the basement to send off, and going down with it was far easier than coming back up!

An appliance dolly and a set of furniture sliders work wonders for me.
There is a downside of me being a picky MF who allows noone to touch his equipment.

Oh I see. I am not sure if I will be confident of drilling holes into the speakers. I think I'll see if I can make use of their ready made holes and just hang them up with screws on the wall. If they don't point well, then maybe I'll try your method. Thanks for the info. I'll definitely be posting a build thread soon.

Take a break from work, and drive up to Jeff's place! I wish I lived in the US... so many toys to play with!

Hah if anything it would be flying there. He's in IL and I'm in MD, and it's probably at least 800 miles apart.

You may have to find a GTG close to you before you get the chance.
I bought mine purely out of blind faith. That was the only way I was going to hear them. They are so over the top that I don't even tell anyone what I have unless they are coming to listen.
People think I am exaggerating or do not know what I am talking about without hearing them for theirselves. I also enjoy seeing the look on the faces when they listen.

Nice! In my room I felt that going from 5.1 to 7.1 was a very worthwhile upgrade. I should have done it years ago.
