I have two MFW15s at this point now. I originally had one with the old amp in it and waited over 3 months for the replacement. I could understand as they had to design and manufacture a new amp and send them out in masses to a large customer base.
I ordered a Quintuple 8 for the center, two T8's as the left and right, and two slanted 8's for the rears.

How much for the Quintuple 8 if it's not a confidential thing?

I placed the order when the pre-order sale was offered. Right now I think the standard textured finish is 1699.00. All the info. is on the JTR forums under announcements.

Thanks! Just browsed the forum and their website definitely needs to update the following:

1. Available wood veneer finishes for the speakers and their corresponding prices. (Plus photos to attract more customers)
2. Update specifications for the 2010 Slanted 8, they now go down to 80Hz instead of just 100Hz.
3. Product listing for Quintuple 8 at $1699 textured black or $1999 wood veneer.
4. Update photo for the Captivator.
5. Wood veneer Triple 8 @ $1399.

Hrmmm... It's hardly surprising that you are experiencing longer than normal lead times when you participated in a pre-order for a product that had not yet entered into full production. Further, the forum is down ATM, but I seem to remember the pre-order post stating that the Quintuples would not be shipping until November and would be sold on a first come, first serve basis. In fact, I would have been surprised if you received your Quintuple prior to now.

I am sure you are anxious and pacing around like a kid on Christmas Eve, I certainly would be! However, I believe that your patience will be rewarded. Make sure to let us know when you receive your speakers, what your impressions are and remember to include lots of pictures! Congratulations (in advance) on your setup!

I had spoke to Jeff on the phone and he said that he was waiting on cabinets for the T8s. He said the q8 was ready to go. This morning I recieved word that Jeff made a few changes to the T8 cabinets that needed a newer crossover design. I have no details on what cabinet changes were made but as long as they are for improvement I don't mind waiting a little longer. By no means am I trying to bash Jeff as I know he has a lot on his plate. Thanks for chiming in and I will try to get some pictures and opinons up when I get them.
Jeff is fairly easy to reach and is very friendly and informative when speaking to him. Even though he's extremely busy I always feel that he has the time to talk to me and is willing to answer all my questions. I've been anxiously awaiting my q8's but am glad to wait for these beasts! Although an update would have been nice, they definitely haven't been delayed extensively.

As to the comparison to ID companies, Jeff is JTRSpeakers. He answers the phone/emails and doesn't have a sales/communication person like other ID companies. If you aren't having luck with email, try calling. He's a friendly guy!

Has anyone compared JTR Tripple 8's to Salk HT1/Subwoofer combo?

The best I'll be able to do is compare 3 quintuples vs. Salk ST's and Song Center.

so what do you think? I will take what I can find.
I'm still waiting for them to be shipped. I'll post after a few days of receiving them though.
I generally quote 3-4 weeks. If I have most of the parts or parts already on order than I'll quote 2-3 weeks however whenever the "2" comes out of my mouth everything takes longer.

The Triple 8 recieved cabinet updates to match the Quintuple: flushed drivers, extra bracing and magnetic grill. The simple changes caused a complete crossover redesign .

unfinished Cherry's:

Sorry for the cellphone pictures.

you dont have to be a pro to hear good speakers. jeffs speakers are definately good!
i know you dont have to be a pro but having one agree with all the others on this forum would really be a nice conformation . some of the jbl threads have a guy saying the big jbl sound better than the jtr . personaly i am not buying that most pro gear i hear is very in your face and bright as sh1t . plus everyone has different taste . i have personaly been one saying something sounds good with out a+b or even side by side conparason .for fun i had my dads klipch my buddies monitor audio and my dynaudios and did some comparing in my room . let me say i never liked my dads klipch and this only confirmed it yuk, the monitors i remember as very likable speakers even questioned me buying mine but side by side dear god they where horable flat very colored and just not what i remembered when they where in there own home . it just goes to prove sid eby side changes everything .some pros suck and they suck because the guys giving there speakers for review are also paying for the advertisement in the mag see a problem here . thats why i have learned never buy a speaker without at least listening to it .i also learned somethign else from that review my super nice awsome sunfire amp sucked big time . yeh i know what your thinking i am one that believes an amp is an amp . i still do i just learned that the sunfire has a signature built into its sound just like speakers thats something i can do with out so i sold it and am happy i did .

does the tripple 12 use the same mid driver someone mentioned they heard both the 8 and 12 and there was no real difference in sound quality just more bass.

Huh? No, they are not. The older T8's were slightly larger and about 10lbs heavier than the 2010 T8's.

There is a NEW new design, the 2010's with flush magnetic grills and a larger cabinet again I believe

Only Jeff can answer for sure. The T8's in the picture look bigger (deeper) than the 2010s to my eyes. It would make sense because of the extra bracing.

And I think you mean Quin, not quad.
Theres a good deal on triple 8s on audiogon.

For those using the JTR T12s in a LRC configuration, what have you found to be the optimum toe-in - 5 degrees, 10, 15, none? My placement would be about 6.5 feet center to center sitting 10 ft away.

Thanks!

Louis

The JTR's have wide dispersion so the alignment isn't as critical as with traditional "Hifi" speakers. That said, I "aim" them just outside (R&L) of the center position "sweet spot". I have been doing quite a bit of 2 channel listening testing out a new SSP and a slight toe in (approx 10º) seems best.

BTW, the imaging and sound stage of the JTR's is excellent. I am an upgrading fool and I am continually frustrated by these speakers as they are just so darn good (at everything) even I can't rationalize an "upgrade".

rmk what other speakers have you had .
