Thanks Carp for expanding your thoughts on the Salks and T8's.
Thanks All. Yes, I am 99% Movie, with some occasional party-style music as background usage.
So, seems like I will be very happy with T8-LP (assume LP also sounds awesome compared to just regular T8). i do have a really good sub (the JTR OS-LF smile.gif), and yes, I like to run it hot...
I guess I will be talking to Jeff really soon to get those in place. Cheers!

I've got the 2012 T8-lps up front for a 100% movie room...,its pretty awesome.

Same here, 95% movies and games. I do listen to music but only once in while here and there...it is not my passion like it is for other folks.

In a room 12' x 15" it would be more difficult to tell the differences in the Triples. The bigger the room gets the more noticable any differences would be. The next part is properly trimming it into your system and using the best possible subwoofer for the situation. The last part is having enough time (at least 30 days) to get to know what to expect from the triples and how to play to thier strengths while staying away from any weaknesses. Demo sessions are nice but rarely is it the best situation for person listening to the demo. A person needs to take these speakers put them in thier own enviorment and do what they think is a proper setup. It does take a while to get everything together 100%. Demos get you the feel and a general expectation of what one can expect but pulling out the magic is up to the individual doing the setup/EQ. I expect peolple to be impressed with my sytem when they come to listen but I think they could pull what they feel to be better performance if my system was at thier house with them doing thier own set-up. A pair of OS's or Cap S2's would make it alot more difficult to distinguish between any of the three also. If someone does not want/need 125lbs speakers in thier HT room then the T8's are the obvious choice. Dont let all this Noesis excitement taint what a T8 is capable of.smile.gif
I felt/feel like my T12's were/are the best for me and then comes the Noesis. My T12's sound exactly the same if not better now that I have Dynamic EQ back on but just knowing the Noesis is out there leaves me with the feeling I am missing something. My wife says that I say NOESIS in my sleep like I am in pain.My T12's are the same great speakers they have always been its my grass is always greener thoughts that get in the way. Hopefully time will fix that.biggrin.gif

On another subject did I read that the Noesis were demoed this past weekend with the speaker levels at -12 and Audyssey turned off? If so that could have led to some songs sounding bright.

After reading these last few posts, I am starting to thinkg that the triple 12's might be enough for me. Since I am 100% movies, would I be utilizing the Noesis to their full potential?
-8 and no eq.

coach, for a heavy movie balance the triple 8s or 12s rock!
Has anybody compared the peformance of either the Triple 12's or Noesis to the Klipsch RF-7's and a RC-64? That would some information I would be interested in knowing.

I liked the T8 original and especially the new T8LP better than my Klipsch THX ultra 2 speakers(KL-650).

Good to see a former Klipsch owner chime in on the comparison.

Which JTR speakers do you have now?
The upper range will out-perform the rc-64's everytime, In my opinion. Those speakers are traditional Klipsch consumer sounding aka way too bright

The two options I am considering right now are:

3 x Triple12's

or

3 x Noesis

Since I am 100% movies, maybe the T12's will do the job..

I know you would be very happy with the Triple 12's. If you are the type that will constantly wonder what if and the budget allows, get the Noesis.
If you have the $$$$ then go for the Noesis. There is nothing better than starting at the finish line.
If $$$$ matters go with the T12's. Try to find used if possible since they are built to last a lifetime.
Mine are now over 1 year old and are Brand New in appearance. As long as they are not left in the rain or get wet you cannot hurt them.

Well, if you can afford the Noesis without any issues then just get those. Any of them will be better than the Klipsch.

Coach, if you can still make it to my house at the end of the month at least you will have a baseline for how the T12 sound. Never heard the Noesis so can't help you there. For me, they kick #$$ on movies but the S2 is a big part of the equation (with a second one on order). I am mostly movies so music is not a big consideration in my decision to buy speakers...but I am also anal so I am sure at some point the dark side will take over and I will buy the Noesis. They don't currently make a smaller Noesis to match the triple 8 in size for a center channel so that would also hold me back from ever changing to the Noesis as I don't have the room in my set-up to use a Noesis (or T12) as center channel..

After seeing that video of the T8's on youtube one of my friends and I took them outside of my house and turned them up to see if they could be heard at his house which is about half a .333 of a mile and it was like they were next door. My neighborhood is .75 of a mile long I live at the end and you can tell exactly what song is playing everytime even a 3/4 mile away. I would try further but the hills get in the way.wink.gif

I have a feeling I won't be purchasing anything until at least the end of the month, so your offer for a demo will definitely help some.

As far as subs go, I feel like I have a decent setup.... 2 - HSU VTF-15H

Eventually I will be upgrading the surrounds and the subs in my system.

Great idea to get the demo. Be prepared for the S2's to give you a bad case of bass envy...wink.gif

No, Chris was talking about the individual speaker levels, they were at -12.

Chris, they did NOT sound bright to me at all, they sounded fantastic. I like how they sound in my room a little better, but that's where I'm used to hearing them.

That's a great story. I have always wanted to replicate the youtube video too biggrin.gif. Not to start another amp controversy but (wink.gif) I'm thinking it really requires that Lab Gruppen (or equivalent) amp Jeff used to drive the T8's to achieve the maximum effect.

Archaea's review said if any or the only flaw was mabey 3 songs sounded a little bright. That could be related to -12 channel level but since Audyssey was not used I do not know if it even matterss.
Jonathan's review is one of the BEST reviews I have ever read. Every word was writen with conviction and pure emotions. That is as Honest as it gets. Carp yours was great too but since you are biased by ownership I would expect nothing less.wink.gif
Thanks to both of you for the time you spent. When you guys want to have a GTG you make it happen. Sweet !!
Thanks again

I have sent Jeff an email to get some more information. If everything goes as planned, I will be putting my current LCR speakers up for sale to see if I can get any takers..

Just my own personal experience: e-mail = no response call = pick up right away or call back quickly
post #6566 of 8263
Yes, call or text is the way to go for sure.

By the way, this is for all the metal heads on this thread.

I started a thread for metal heads. I typed a ton of info that is probably only interesting to me, haha, but I would love to hear some recommendations of music from you guys as well as any other info you feel like posting.

Are there any plans (yet) to add to the Noesis line?
