And what exactly am I "speculating" about? And habitual no less? I hope I just missed your sarcasm but if not, I'd love for you to elaborate on that. Pointing out design benefits/upgrades over previous models is no speculation. The benefit of a higher constant directivity design is pure fact, not speculation. You of all people should know that design upgrades such as Jeff's XO updates require no guesswork, as they have ALWAYS improved the speaker's performance, and for easily documented reasons that you could ask Jeff about.

Sad is the day when companies start making new lines of product, at higher premiums, for less performance. pshuhhhhh

What's JTR's facebook so I can like his page and keep up with this stuff. I have been wanting to get some JTR stuff for the last two years but every time I turn around I have a new project.

Landscaping...
Renovate the laundry and pantry...
Renovate the entryway…
Engagement ring…
Now I have to restore my 1965 Mustang. Paint & body, interior, 347 stroker and tranny…
IT'S JUST TOO :eek:MUCH...

The reviews of the Noesis make me consider selling my Triple 12FL's.

Not a bit dude. I just try my best to submit as much info and knowledge I can, so your comment threw me a little bit. especially since I have been one of the largest supports of Jeff moving to a horn design ever since the first teaser pics of the Noesis came out. I knew it would be a true performer and can't wait to hear a pair myself. I don't really take offense a whole lot but today I dealt with way too many other situations that perhaps I was off on catching comments made in a joking manner. No worries here bro smile.gif

I usually find your comments relevant and interesting beast. I am always looking for the lighter side of things and so in this anonymous venue that can come across as snarky ... and sometimes it is ... but not in this case. smile.gif

Thanks man!!! Darned forums that show no emotion...haha. FWIW, it takes an awful lot to piss me off but after some of today's events, I was already there so I apologize again for it coming down over the thread. Back to business...I would love to see some comparisons from the new 8" offering vs the 212's. Depending on the response, might be a killer response for someone not quite ready to take the jump to the big uns...

A Noesis 212HT vs Seaton Cat would be an interesting comparison. Hope to hear that both make it to the April GTG.

That's what I'm hoping for beast, I don't really have the budget for the Noesis 212ht's and truth be told I'd be kidding my self if I said I had the room too. I think they would probably over power my room anyways seeing that its only 2100cubic/ft with a 6ft opening into another 800cubic/ft area. Well atleast I'm telling myself I don't have the budget so I don't do something crazy biggrin.gif. I think I'm going to jump all over the new 228ht's!

I saw Jeff's post about the 228HTs and definitely very interested. The 212s might be too much for my small room.

I thought I would add a comparison of the horns: Noesis 3TX / 212HT horn (left), and the Noesis 2AX / 228HT horn (right).

Yeah if only I actually had enough room for the Noesis 212HT's, on well I guess the 228HT's will have to do biggrin.gif

That's a good call. I'd probably go that way myself except I have already gone large and there's no going back ... smile.gif

+1. I was going to call Jeff and order the T8-LP this week, and just saw this. Now, I will need to decide if I want T8-LP or 228HT.
I had sent a couple of questions to Jeff, but he is probably too busy doing a lot of stuff, so maybe I can get some general information here. It seems to me that T8-LP is 3-way (coax) while 228HT is 2-way (but with horn). What would be the difference between a 2-way and 3-way in this case? And since it is using the T8 woofers, I assume it will go as low as T8? (I was hoping it goes a bit lower so I can crossover my sub lower).
This has me thinking that I might get 3 of the 228HT's rather than 4 slanted 8's and move my 2010 T8's to surround duty.

However that leaves me 1 speaker short for a while and makes me have to figure out how to properly mount my 50 lb T8's to the walls without damaging the walls or the speakers. I also need to figure out how to make it all look presentable, if I can't do that, I will be better off with the slanted 8's

Here is my question. Assuming I can't find a used 2010 T8, is there enough difference between a 2010 T8 and the latest model T8 that I would notice the difference when using 1 of each as rear surrounds?

So why were you going to go with the Triple 8lp version over the regular Triple 8ht version? Because I think the 228ht is the same size as the Triple 8HT not the LP version.

If I go with LP, I plan to mount it on the wall. however, I do have space currently to do a regular T8 (as floor standing though) so this 228ht got me thinking. With pre sale price, I might be able to get something close to a regular T8, so it will be a good deal. I did also ask Jeff if he plans to have an LP for 228 as well..
Okay cool. I was just curious I thought it might have been a size issue.

Hi Jedi,

To mount the T8's on the wall you need to make some holes. A French cleat (wood or metal) would be best to support the 50lbs. I used an 8" long piece of 1"X4" birch that I ripped in half with a 45 degree cut. Attach one to the wall and the other to the back of the T8. Jeff installed keyhole mounts on my T8LP's so they sit pretty flush.

Any model T8 should blend fine as rear surrounds.

Just for curiosity I did some amp testing today between my Onkyo a Crown XLS202 and a Behringer INuke DSP3000 on a set of eD speakers. FR response was very similar, but not exact. Crown and Onkyo were close to identical. Behringer had a bit of increase at the very top end of the audible spectrum. Don't have a reference as to what is preciously accurate - just referencing them against each other. Was trying to determine if there would be an audible difference. Not sure there would be for me because in previously testing in my room with downloaded test tones I personally can't hear much above 16 to 17khz. There has been some amp talk in this thread as of late - thought some of you might be interested.

Thank you. I would probably have to take them apart and paint them white, including the grills. Even that might not fly. She (my wife) took some convincing to decide that the slanted 8's were acceptable.
