Which sealed Cap and which vented Cap are you thinking about? keep in mind that a Cap 2400 will have the same output as a Cap S2 right up till you get below its port tune, which I believe is 17 or 18hz. Below that the I would guess that both the Cap S1 and S2 would have more output then a Cap 2400.

JB I'm thinking either the captivator 2400 ported or the S1 sealed
Both with the 2400W amp

Your room is coming together nicely ... I'd get two Cap 1000's or an S2 and be done with it.

Why not make the drive and hear them in person at Jeff's shop? If you like what you hear, throw it in you car and off you go. smile.gif

The sub will be used for movies and music equally

Here's a thread of my HT build it will be complete in about 2 weeks
So I need to get my order into Jeff very soon

http://community.klipsch.com/forums/t/172682.aspx

Not a JTR owner and have heard neither, so take this FWIW. I found this thread very informative:

http://www.avsforum.com/t/1387178/archaeas-kansas-city-blind-subwoofer-shootout-2012

Cut to the chase and scroll to the data and table at the bottom of post #2... Based on sound only, the participants could not tell whether they were listening to a Cap Pro or Cap S. In fact, the majority guessed incorrectly for both.

So my advice FWIW for 50/50 movies/music use: decide based on size (available room) and price - it's unlikely you'll pick the difference by the sound alone.

I've had several projectors and this one raises the bar for 2D and the 3D is really cool.

I will second that!

On my way home after viewing RMK's theater............my wife gave a small complaining session wondering why I spent all that money on the 1000 when I could have purchase the HW-50. She was impressed with the projector but I had to tell her over and over................to just wait. I don't know if I'll be in the "Dog House" or not.........

I had the same problem. I think he was just real busy because he returned my call last week and I got my sub ordered. Give him a call, I think it works faster that way.

One other quick comment, what did you mean by "trying to get some prices from Jeff" ? all of his prices are listed on his webpage including the discounts you'd receive when buying 5 or more pieces and 8 or more pieces.

Wow those would be interesting to see. All I can say is just keep trying to calling, Jeff has been crazy busy lately from what I've heard.

I almost did it! Jeff had two brand new S2's boxed up for the GTG and when we began to open everything up Andrew (Gorilla) was egging me on to buy the complete JTR package to go with my Noesis. (Single 8's and 2X S2's) I was about an inch from doing it, but I just have so much stuff to get rid of first, Plus I am happy with the XV-30s for now. A pair of Noesis was good for one day. smile.gif I do love the S2's though, they are on my radar.

The sub will be the easier item to locate as people are always "upgrading" subs based upon a desire for more bass.

OTOH, S8's are usually purposed as surround speakers and they do such a great job there is no upgrade itch to scratch. I have 4 2010 Slanted 8's (height and surround back's) and although I believe that the new version CD would sound a bit better, I don't believe I would be able to notice that difference. smile.gif

The great deal I got through AVS with a pair of 3D glasses and an extra lamp included was a no-brainer.

BTW, I hope you don't end up in the same boat with your loudspeaker selection ... think law of diminishing returns. wink.gif

I'm sure you realize that while the custom veneer is no big deal, unlike the previous coaxial/cd designs moving the cd/horn to the upper position requires at a minimum a different cabinet design build. Jeff has done this in the past but although purchasers like the have it their way builds, it isn't really very cost effective from a business perspective.

Why do you need the horn up top? I'm guessing that putting the speakers on color/finish matched pedestals would be a better solution ... no?
Looks like I'm also going the custom route, for my new center channel anyways. As good as my Q8s is, my ocd has taken over and Jeff is going to make me something custom with the Noesis horn in it. So at some point, I'll have my custom Q8s up for sale. Works been busy and with my first kid on the way, I'd better do it now! biggrin.gif

BTW I had asked Jeff for the Noesis with horns on the top as well but since he had to make them custom, I didn't bother. At the time I would have rather had them on top, not so much anymore since I made my 2242 stands.

Nathan, do you think you'll ever go AT screen so you can have your center vertical? I think I will some day but the center sounds so good as is.

Btw, will it be custom because it has to be shorter?

Does anyone know if I need the male or female xlr cable for the orbit shifter?

I would love a AT screen but at my current house, it's impossible to do so. I wouldn't have enough room for the projector throw. I'm ok with getting a custom Noesis type speakers. Jeff said he had a few ideas and had some sims to run. My thoughts were a sealed version of the Noesis 3x as it's size is ok but a little thinner would be ideal. So I'll either be looking at one like that with 2 or 4 10's I'm thinking. When the tie comes that I move, I'll buy the same sized Noesis but our lot and the builders are becoming a huge pain in the butt and we may sell what we have and buy another lot somewhere else. Just haven't made up our minds.

living room setup
all floor standing speakers and my 80" sharp can't get any higher or i'd get a bad case of neck cramps every time i watch tv.

I figured it was something like that but what about horizontal placement for the center 212 with the L&R outboard of the Sharp up on short matching pedestals (so that the horns are near the same height)?
