That could very well be. I just took it as fact because I've seen others make that comment many times over on all different forums including this one.

Oh, and your moment a out how waiting is the best part, I just have to say "boo hiss!" Lol

That looks amazing. Congrats man, and thanks for opening up the template for me smile.gif

I am very glad that the 2 fedex guys bought my 3 boxes up, no idea why, they originally left it outside my garage, then decided to heft them up, must have realized direct signature was required and they forged my name lol.

Can't wait to fire these up when i get the chance to, might need to downsize a bit and get rid of my full range av123 ls6 speakers.

I'm wondering what kind of work Jeff had to do to make these work, I was reading about MTM and TMM speakers, and i would think that the crossovers in these would resemble the 3TX more then the 212HT, then again i don't know crap about crossovers, and i would think Jeff would know a thing or 2 about speakers hah.

also seems like my horns are mounted with a 40degree wide dispersion pattern and 60degree high. Shining a light into the horn, its a Oval that is taller then wide. I assume that confirms the way i believe it is mounted? Just wanted to check before i redo these horns.
Congrats ufokiller! It's fantastic that Jeff is providing that horn orientation.

As other's have said, they look great (and sure they sound fantastic). Well done!!!
What is the deal with the lump? Have you spoken to Jeff?

As for the horn orientation, It is the horn cone, not the oval that determines the dispersion and I think that the 60 degrees is always horizontal. Again, check with Jeff ...

They do look great but also look tiny compared to those LS's smile.gif
post #9877 of 18421
Those LS's are huge! I hadn't seen one in person before the last gtg, and I wasn't expecting them to be that big. You could get the impression the Noesis is small from that picture. It's not!
And make some time to listen to those new speakers so we can get some impressions!

I hate thinking about how much daycare costs me. My kids are 2 & 5, and I added up what it's cost so far and what I'll spend over the next 5 years and it'll end up costing me north of $125,000! mad.gif

I just try not to think about it....lol eek.gif

It can be tough. When we had kids, we decided that my wife would quit her teaching job and be a full time stay home mother. Needless to say, your retirement funds do not grow as fast, when living off of one income for a family of four. smile.gif

not really a lump, just noticeable when i was rubbing these babies down last night, on 2 of the 3 speakers i unboxed, there was a raised area, same area on both speakers,

Congrats on the arrival of the new babies Ufo! Can't wait to read your impressions.

Is anyone using heights or wides with the Noesis(or both)? What are you using and any timber matching issues?

Not negative but as in 9 dB's from absolute zero, -0.0. That is pretty darn quiet, and I imagine quite disorienting.

need to make myself a custom set of speaker grilles that will leave the horn exposed. Hope to get those made in a few months time!

Ah, I thought I saw a - there, but was looking on my phone at the time. It would be interesting to experience it. It seems right up there with Chinese water torture.

ufokillerz - It is funny that the Noesis 212HT keeps showing up in rooms with LS-6 speakers. Last year I hosted 2 GTG's at my house with LS-6/Noesis and there have been two more GTG's with LS-6/Noesis speakers present. Now you have the same combo in your room. I'm looking forward to your impressions.

Congratulations are in order for this thread breaking into the top 10 speaker threads at AVS based on post count. It just passed the Salk thread in the past month or so. It is the only ID thread in the top 10! If Archaea hadn't started the separate JTR Noesis 228HT thread and would have posted here instead, this thread would now be in 9th place tongue.gif.

That is pretty cool! It seems like Jeff has some hot commodities in the Noesis 212HT and 228HT lineup.

-9 is what it says and it's perfectly possible. dB is the log of ratio, which is negative if the measured pressure (numerator) is smaller than the reference pressure (denominator). The reference pressure used to calculate spl was chosen so that 0dB is the threshold of audibility to humans

I have it waiting on the shelf till my delivery arrives. By all accounts it's very good. I saw the movie at IMax(a real one, not the converted theater crap), so I know it's a very dynamic theatrical mix. If the home version is the same it will kick-ass

Yes, I have Slanted 8's as height's and they are perfectly timbre matched ...I think ... confused.gifwink.gif

Actually due to the different CD they are not but I challenge anyone to notice a difference. Like surround speakers, exact timbre matching of the Height speakers may be ideal, but it is not critical. Now, if we were talking Wides, then that might be more of an issue. Thats my 2 bits.

Thanks. How have the heights impacted movies and music for you? And did you try wides at all?

I'll have three extra speakers once the Noesis' arrive and I need to figure out the best way to use them in my room. It seems heights or wides is the new standard over rear speakers, but I've heard neither.

I think I'll stick one speaker in the rear "6.1" position and then settle on heights or wides for the other two. I highly doubt that I'm going to get away with putting two wide speakers on the floor in my room(due to room and wife constraints), so it'll likely be heights.

Heights seem the more popular choice for reasons like you mentioned. I played around quite a bit with Definitive Tech speakers at different positions. Heights were first and definitely added to the ambient sound in music and movies. But I felt the benefit of having more surrounds for movies far outweighed the bump in expanded soundstage up front. The side and rear surrounds, IMO, really take the surround experience up to the next level. I would do heights next then wides last. One thing about heights too though is there is no other way to get direct sound up there so that is nice too smile.gif
