High wattage gives you more than loudness, It can clean up midbass and make the speakers generally sound better....
High Wattage ONLY gives you more loudness....There is no arguing that, its very specific...Wattage increases SPL NOTHING ELSE. More wattage does not give you more mid bass slam
There are other parts to an amp that can help speakers sound better, low noise floor, stability down to low impedance levels, Distortion levels, Slew rate, etc
Most amps are not going to change the SQ in a properly controlled test that is level matched. I own more amps then most people and I have owned the Emotiva products.....your search for best SQ is a purely subjective one, you can do it because it does not matter to anyone else what you spend your money on but lets make sure posted opinion is atleast accurate. Im sure in the end you will have convinced yourself that did get better SQ out the product you purchased but @ $300 nothing beats the Emotiva in measurements!
However, I still don't understand how more amp cant make these speakers sound better. I would imagine its like driving a V8 on the highway vs a V6. yes, both go equally fast but there is a difference no??? correct me if I'm wrong
Sorry but audio and Cars are not remotely the same, Amps are meant to do ONE THING!!! Cars do a little more then ONE THING.....I posted before and I will post again. Car analogies are the second worst thing that ever happened to audio
I think I can find an amp for 300 that will sound better than the Emotiva that's all. I have heard good things...but I have not heard an Emotiva amp, so i guess I can't know for sure.
Subjectively yes you will convince yourself you did but the measurements and objective analysis says @ $300 you will not find anything better new.
Others are also right to point out that you are wasting $$$ here. You should understand that the speakers and the room (treatments, design, placement of speakers) are what makes for the best SQ not electronics and with that in mind the best budgeted systems will have atleast 70 to 80 percent of the bugdet in speakers and room treatments.
Mid bass slam has ZERO to do with amps!!
