Ok guys, since there are many HD20 owners here, I guess you might have the answer.
Hypothesis: Is the HD200x the same as the HD20, only in different color?
Why do I ask?
- They have the same physical dimensions (W*H*D)
- They have the same weight (down to the gramme!)
- They use the same idle power (Watts)
- They use the same "load" power (watts)
- Some HD200x owners have reported having HD20 firmware
So, what the dille yo?
Are they the same? How can HD20 have more light output and higher contrast than the HD200x, if they use the same amount of power, use the same lens, use the same bulb (I guess they do)?
I know they could use a more transparent DLP color wheel in the HD20, that is the only thing I can think about, which can make a different light output.
If that is the case, I think I would favour the hd200x, as it would then have better black levels?
However, my theory:
They are the same, only specced differently, to make some more models to compete with other manufacturers.
Eg. the HD200x then performs as the HD20 (I guess), but they say it performs a tad less. Those who find the HD20 too expensive, might then buy the HD200x. Some HD200x interested people would also see that HD20 is white and prefer that colour, and seeing that they would get "better" specs, they then buy the HD20?
Am I missing something? Hope someone has some pointers..
I prefer a white PJ my self, but I dont know if I can justify the difference in costs for the HD20 vs HD200x.
Here the HD200x is 1333$ and the HD20 is 1500$, which I find to be a lot for a different color housing.
They are ALL out of stock atm.. The rumour is that they have run out of darkchips? Expected in stock again around 31th of this month, but it's an uncertain date... However, I guess the prices might drop too, seeing as new pj models are arriving soon, the rumour goes in the land of the vikings..
