Heck, for $300, I'll just go buy a new projector... And not an Optoma!
Sorry to hear that. I understand your feelings. Once you have a sour experience, it's hard and sometimes near impossible to ever want to use that brand again. I love my 2003 Honda Odyssey for the family. But my brother than a 2001 of the same generation and had nothing but issues with it. He got rid of it and likely will never buy Honda again. So it certainly happens.
I would likely be the same way. I have only had two Optoma projectors. The HD70 for 3 years with no issues. And the HD20 that I currently run, for over 3 years, also with no issues.
Hard to imagine you will find a 1080p replacement PJ for $300. lol. But you could also look into brands such as BenQ and Vivitek. Both are competitors to Optoma 1080p low cost projectors.
In case you want to reconsider a lower cost solution, the Optoma bulb part number is BL-FP230D , the main issue is that so many "OEM" knockoff sites advertise using this part number.
$250 directly from Optoma. http://shop.optomausa.com/lamp_data.php?p_no=274
$204 shipped from Best Buy, but honestly this doesn't look OEM. http://www.bestbuy.com/site/Optoma---P-VIP-230W-Lamp-for-Select-Optoma-Projectors/9735774.p?id=1218163637829&skuId=9735774
$220 from Newegg, I trust them. http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16824998247
$230 from CDW, this will most certainly be authentic. http://www.cdw.com/shop/products/Optoma-BL-FP230D-projector-lamp/1831509.aspx
$119 Amazon Prime, fulfilled by Amazon, sold by Briter Media. Most likely a knock off at this price. Mixed reviews. http://www.amazon.com/dp/B002Q0WN48
- Verify return policy with Amazon first, this might be a good option.
$219 from Staples, also authentic. http://www.staples.com/Optoma-BL-FP230D-Replacement-Lamp-for-HD20-HD22-HD200X-HD2200-230-W/product_IM1CA0783
So it looks like the original price of $300 is now longer true. But at this point you might not be willing to spend anything on your HD20. If so, are you planning to sell it?
