I don't know if it was luck or the lower input lag. But the game did feel different to the point where the character really felt like he was moving when I controlled him to do so

Is it possible that switching your tv to pc input reset your PS3's video output settings and put you back to 480i? Check under display setting that that every output your tv can except is selected (1080p, 720p, etc). From what I've read, the PC input trick only works via HDMI and, on some samsung's tv, only on one of the ports. I'm guessing it's probably the one that is labeled HDMI/DVI, if your tv is like that.
