Right. Rising black levels, let me tell you about rising black levels.
After returning Sony 46W5100 and LG 42SL8000 because of bad motion and input lag I decided to overcome my fear of IR and bought 46G10(I should go for 50"
Nice TV, no input lag, good colors, solid picture and IR is not that bad.
But after two and a half months, and around 600 hours on TV, blacks sucks and they were not that good to begin with.
And while in the light room TV is watchable, without light it is totally horrible. It looks more like a couple years old LCD than anything else(by the way, the blacks on Sony W51000 are dark as monolith in Odyssey 2001 - too bad input lag sucks on that TV).
If I remember correctly from this forum, the plasma tv supposed to be the best in dark environment not the other way around. And to anyone who claim that only some TV's suffer from this: Panasonic said themselves that some of customers will notice this while other would not, but every single TV will have increase of screen voltage, therefore increase of black levels.
I can see it and no, I cannot provide any measurements since I would rather spent $130 on blu ray player or photo camera then measurement instrument that I am going to use a couple of times.
Since there is no better alternative(and return period is expired) I am going to stick with this TV and wait to hit the "magical" 1000 hours somewhere around the end of April and decide if I can live with black levels or I am going to make some calls. I do not want to call them now since they do not know anything and will send me a poor local technician who would try to change some electronic board or panel which would not solve problem anyway. Hopefully something will be done by Panasonic by then.
By the way my TV is March 2009 build and do have yellow THX mode.
It is updated to 1.28 FW , and IB works flawlessly despite some rumors that FW 1.28 broke IB.
